Third T20I: Australia vs Pakistan Preview

Australia vs Pakistan Preview

Australia remain unbeaten in T20Is for over a year and have started the season in ominous form.

Pakistan limped into the series against Australia off the back of a chastening defeat to Sri Lanka and still look like a team struggling for confidence.

Third T20I | Friday 11 November | Optus Stadium, Perth | 10:30

To Win Match
Australia 21/100
Tie 35/1
Pakistan 34/10

David Warner and Aaron Finch have found their spark as an opening partnership again while Steve Smith gave everyone a reminder of his quality across all formats with his unbeaten knock that helped Australia take a 1-0 lead in the series.

In the T20I format, an in-form spinner is like gold and Australia have two of them at their disposal in Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar. The pair have kept it tight and also found several breakthroughs at crucial moments.

Australia's bowlers have been able to pick up wickets regularly keeping Pakistan on the back foot.

The strength of the home side's all-round game means they are rightly favourites to claim the series with victory in Perth.

While Mohammad Amir found an answer to the devastating form of David Warner Pakistan still have plenty of questions to answer in this series.

Under new leadership, Pakistan have not been able to maintain a challenge across a match. New skipper Babar Azam has been leading from the front but doesn't seem to have too many devoted followers.

Iftikhar Ahmed showed some promise as a finisher though and the bowlers appear to be adjusting to conditions quite well.

Pakistan have to hold onto their catches and be sharper in the field as well as between the wickets. This will be Pakistan's first-ever match at the new Optus Stadium.

Verdict: Australia 21/100
Australia to keep their foot down.
