Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: MAGICALLEE (9)
Jockey: S Khumalo - Trainer: K Naidoo

MAGICALLEE showed plenty of speed when producing an eye-catching debut over four furlongs on this course. She was her own worst enemy that day as she hung in the closing stages. The daughter of Willow Magic would have come on from the run and with natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

Jockey: A Marcus - Trainer: C Spies

SAPPHIRE ROCK hails from the Corne Spies yard who make their way to Hollywoodbets Scottsville with a host of runners on the day. She showed plenty of speed in her last start and stayed on well at the finish. The run that catches the eye is her run in the Devon Air Stakes when finishing 1.5 lengths behind What You Are over seven furlongs. Anton Marcus is on board today and if she reproduces that run, she may be hard to beat.

Jockey: T Godden - Trainer: Alyson Wright

PURPLE POWAHOUSE showed good improvement in his second start over this c&d. He was running on well at the finish that day. Tristan Godden retains the ride and with more improvement that is expected, he should be right there as they run down to the wire.

Race 6: BLAZE OF SILK (9)
Jockey: S Brown - Trainer: C Bestel

BLAZE OF SILK is a speedy son of Twice Over from the Corinne Bestel yard. He was returning from a 10-week break last time and stayed on well at the finish behind Robberg Express. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. His record over this c&d is good with three wins, a second and a third-place finish from eleven outings. He takes a drop-in class and should strip much fitter. He may be hard to peg back in the closing stages.

Race 7: BACKPACKER (12)
Jockey: L Ferraris - Trainer: G Puller

This is a competitive maiden field and caution is advised. The narrow first selection goes to BACKPACKER from the in-form Garth Puller stable. He stayed on well at the finish in his last start over seven furlongs at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The son of Silvano comes back from a long break, but his conditioner is no stranger to bringing his horses back to the races fit and well. From his wide barrier position, he should be switched off early and made to mow down the frontrunners in the run down to the wire.
