The season may have barely kicked off but already signs indicate something special may be happening at the Sharks. Their first-round win over the Bulls was certainly nothing special but their performance in their 42-20 thrashing of the Highlanders on the weekend was not unlike classic Sharks wins of the past. In particular, Aphelele Fassi had a stormer, with the Dale College Old Boy continuing to spearhead an immensely exciting black and white backline. If they can manage even one more win over the next three weeks, they will be one of the favourites to take the SA Conference by the horns.
Lions get home unconvincingly
Stormers claim big win
The Cape side’s 13-0 win at Loftus would have served as another big psychological boost on their quest to compete for this year’s Super Rugby crown. In truth, the Bulls never looked in it as the Stormers picked up a resounding victory in the end. Considering the Lions’ two displays so far, John Dobson’s men are likely to be three from three by the end of the next round. For the Bulls, they will head into this week’s bye with much to ponder.
