UK Racing Best Bets - Tuesday 11 February 2020

Tuesday 11 February 2020

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from UK Racing at Chelmsford and Newcastle on Tuesday 11 February 2020.

Chelmsford Best Bets

Trainer: David Lanigan
Jockey: Shane Kelly

PRINCE OF EAGLES readily broke his maiden with a string staying performance at Lingfield and can endorse his liking for Polytrack by following up in this switch to handicaps. The assessor has taken no chances with him, but he looks progressive, and one to follow.

Race 6: SOCIAL CITY (5)
Trainer: Tony Carroll
Jockey: Hollie Doyle

Having done nothing wrong with a win and narrow defeat from as many starts this year, SOCIAL CITY is poised for another bold run. The horse that beat him at Lingfield, Paddleyourowncanoe, has given the form a subsequent boost and the selection won’t mind cutting back on the distance ladder.

Newcastle Best Bets

Race 1: LE MUSEE (3)
Trainer: Nigel Hawke
Jockey: Tom Queally

The visored LE MUSEE ran out a hugely impressive scorer on his return to action at Southwell, and on this different surface can make lightning strike twice. Strongly supported, the selection was in total command when getting to the front and has been given a month to recover and freshen up from those exertions.

Race 4: BARRINGTON (7)
Trainer: Mike Appleby
Jockey: Ben Curtis

Although the task of living up to the success of his namesake Barry Hills was always going to be a tall order, BARRINGTON is at last giving out good signals and after two near misses can make it third time lucky in this sprint. He did everything right before being mugged in the final strides of a similar contest at Lingfield, and looks ready to win.

Trainer: Kevin Ryan
Jockey: Tom Eaves

Looking at the way COAST OFALFUJAIRAH bolted up on his handicap bow over course and distance last month, his trainer made a good job of preparing him for this new discipline and if getting onto the lead he should be very hard to peg back. The one for the exacta is Augustus Caesar who has maintained a good standard of form.

Trainer: Charlie Appleby
Jockey: Luke Morris

The Newmarket form that DISCOVERY ISLAND takes into this maiden should make him hard to beat if replicated on Tapeta. He went down by just half a length to the useful Mascat and has trained well for this seasonal return.

Race 8: RICH APPROACH (14) (Each Way)
Trainer: James Bethell
Jockey: Jack Mitchell

Although up a notch on the class ladder, RICH APPROACH has plenty going for him after an eye-catching first run back over course and distance. A past winner here, he receives weight from everything in the field and if building on his latest effort should be involved.
