Zinnbauer: Sitting second right now doesn’t mean much

Orlando Pirates warming up

Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer admits he doesn’t expect his charges to hold on to second position in the Absa Premiership for very long.

The Buccaneers moved into second place after beating Chippa United 2-1 on Saturday – their fifth consecutive league win under Zinnbauer.

However, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits both have games in hand over the Soweto giants and Zinnbauer knows they will most likely leapfrog his team.

“Number two? It’s for a moment,” Zinnbauer said on Far Past.

“We know the other teams are not on the same number of games as us. They are a few games behind us, should they win then number two is done and settled.”

The German tactician would prefer to focus on his next opponents, Black Leopards, instead of looking at the standings.

He added: “But for me, it’s important that we play the next game very well and we have the next chance and we get three points and that’s important for us. It’s a moment, it’s a picture, not more.”
