Cost: R125.00.
Race 1.
KWAHADI stayed on well in his last start over a mile and should
appreciate going the extra distance here. STEEL
SEDAKA was making steady late progress in his last
outing over a mile and is another who should enjoy going the extra trip today.
STRONG
PRIDE is a 3yr old
filly taking on the boys, but she has cracked pole position and should give the
males a good run for their money. ART MAJOR has
only had the two runs to date where he has finished second in both of them over
1500M. From draw two, he will be hoping to go one better here.
Race 2.
With
two of the more fancied runners in the race scratched, the way may become clear
for ANNABETH to record her maiden
victory. She is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but the blinkers are
removed for the first time and she may do better as a result. DODGE THE HOUNDS on the other
hand gets the blinkers re-fitted today. He showed some improvement last time
out when dropping back in trip and despite a wideish draw, he could threaten
the former. GUNSABLAZIN’ is drawn
one inside the latter and has shown good improvement in his last two outings
over six furlongs. The drop in trip should not be an issue. PIMPPOINT is a 3yr old colt who makes his debut here, but
he has put up five decent barrier trials. Any betting support for him should be
respected.
Race 3.
Two
3yr old fillies look like they can dominate the finish to this race and they
may be able to complete the exacta here. EXACT REPLICA improved last time out when finishing second over seven
furlongs, just one length behind the winner. She jumps from draw two and should
be a big runner today. INTELLECTIVE returns
from a 19 week break and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, but she
had consistent form before the rest and from a handy draw, she should be
respected here. DROP THE MIC has
his first outing after an even longer 30 week break. He is seldom far off the
winner, but has a wide draw to deal with. Without a barrier trial, his fitness
will need to be taken on trust. LAYBUY has the
blinkers removed for the first time and if he is able to repeat his penultimate
effort over 1300M, he should pose a danger to the top three selections.
Race 4.
ROKARA has solid staying form over various distances and has
finished second in his last three starts. He may prove hard to topple here,
despite having a wide draw. TRALEE ROSE is a
3yr old filly taking on males and also has a wide draw to deal with. She steps
up in trip, but should be respected in this line-up. FLENSBURG is
another who steps up in distance, but he stayed on well in his last outing over
nine furlongs and could be looking for this greater test of stamina. ENERGY RAIDER is a 3yr
old filly who has cracked pole position. She was making late progress last time
out over eleven furlongs, suggesting that the extra ground will be to her
liking.
Race 5.
YULONG
CAPTAIN has finished under one
and a half lengths behind the winner in his last two outings over twelve
furlongs and will be hoping for that consistency to be rewarded with a victory
here. BEACHGOER stayed on well
to win his last start over ten furlongs and should have no problem coping with
the extra distance. GREY KHAN was a tad disappointing last
time our over ten furlongs, but may well be better over the extra trip. JENSTAR is a 4yr old
filly taking on the boys, but she has strong staying formlines to her credit
and will certainly keep the males honest here.
Race 6.
PADDY
MAC has only had the two
starts to date, both over seven furlongs, finishing a close up third on debut
and then putting 5.5L between himself and the rest of the field next time out
to record his maiden victory. He is drawn one from the outside of the field,
but with a bit of luck in running, he could complete the double. ALPHAVILLE showed marked
improvement when winning his maiden race last time out over seven furlongs and
jumping from pole position, he may be the immediate danger to the former. HE'S THE REAL DEEL has put in two solid last
two efforts and from a handy draw he should be respected today. LADY DELIGHT is
a 4yr old filly taking on males and is the stable companion of the top choice.
She did win her last start to crack her maiden win and should be involved in
the finish here.
Race 7.
MISS SKEPTICAL is a 5yr
old mare taking on males, but she showed good improvement in her last start
over 1100M when only beaten by a head. LA
BELLA COSTA is a 4yr old
filly who missed out on her hat-trick last time out over seven furlongs. She
returns from a 17 week break and has not had a barrier trial, but if not in
need of the run, she could get back to winning ways here. MORE SUNDAYS was
immediately rested for 19 weeks after a disappointing last start over six
furlongs. He had won his run over the same distance prior to that and if
bouncing back to that type of form, he would be a big runner here. KALKARNI
ROYALE is a 3yr old filly who won by three lengths on debut over five
furlongs and could be almost anything. Keep an eye on the betting to see how
her connections feel about her completing the double.
Race 8.
BROMES won his
latest outing over a mile in the shadow of the post and despite having to start
from the widest draw of them all, be should be right up there in the firing
line. JIMMY'S
SECRET is drawn at the complete
opposite end of the barrier gates, in pole position. He should put that to good
use as he drops in distance from his last start over nine furlongs where he
finished four lengths behind the winner. NOT ALONE
finished a short-head second last time out over 1500M after attracting plenty
of betting support that day. He will be looking to make amends here. ABLESTOCK returns from a
23 week break and no barrier trial. He drops down in trip after winning his
maiden race last time out over ten furlongs. If not finding the trip too sharp,
he could be involved in the finish.
Race 9.
A
tricky contest concludes the day’s program and some caution is advised. SIR
HARALD showed good improvement
in his last two outings, the latest being a head defeat over a mile. He has
pulled pole position which is a big plus. RIVAROLA on
the other hand will have to negotiate draw twelve, but he did win his last
start over 1500M and will be doing his best work in the closing stages of the
race. SHIFTY
SHAMUS gets a set of blinkers
fitted for the first time today and if these have the desired effect, he should
be right up there in the dash down to the line. ACCORDINGLY is a 4yr old filly
taking on males and returns from a 19 week rest. She takes a big drop in
distance after her last two outings over ten furlongs. If returning fresh, she
could be the lurker in the pack.
