International Racing: Gulfstream Park – Friday 10 April 2020 (Turf/Dirt)

An exciting ten-race programme can be looked forward to at Gulfstream Park on Friday. The best bet on the card comes in Race 6 in the form of TAKE CHARGE DUDE. He is a distance specialist with a record of three wins and a second-place finish from as many attempts. Luis Saez does duty and the pair should be hard to beat.

Best Bet: TAKE CHARGE DUDE (Race 6)

Race 1
TRACEABILITY made the expected natural improvement in his last start over this course and distance. He received a bump when leaving the gates, but finished his race off well up the straight to get second place. He has a much better barrier position this afternoon and further progression should see him win this type of race. Joel Rosario rides for the first time and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. WINNING FACTOR has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He finished a length behind the top selection in his last start. As the pair meet on the same weight terms today, he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 2
This is an open looking Maiden race and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is DARDANELLOS from the Luis Duco yard. He has shown decent improvement in his last two starts over this course and distance. He turned for home five wide last time, but finished his race off well up the straight. He has finished second twice and third once from five starts over this distance. From his good barrier position, he looks to be the one to side with here. There looks to be a bit of value about the second selection, BELLAS FELLA. He showed huge improvement in his first run trying the dirt over this distance. He raced from a handy position and stayed on well at the business end of that race. Luis Reyes retains the ride and the pair should be right there in the run down to the finishing post.

Race 3
DONDER ‘N BLITZEN has found a new lease on life since changing stables. She won her last start over this course and distance when setting the pace and just lasting where it matters most. Luis Saez retains the ride aboard the daughter of Empire Way and the pair should be hard to peg back in the closing stages once again. VICKYTHEBEST notched up her first win over seven furlongs on the dirt surface last time. She set the pace and kept fighting all the way down to the line. The switch to the turf should not pose an issue as she finished third in her only attempt on the surface. Joel Rosario does duty and she is likely to use her early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy. The daughter of Carpe Diem looks to be the biggest danger to the top selection.

Race 4
MISS ADVENTURE showed good improvement in her last start on this surface when finishing third. She tracked the leader turning for home and stayed on well at the business end. She has drawn pole position today and is likely to race up with the pace. Edgard Zayas knows the daughter of Street Sense well and the pair merit healthy respect. BIRD MAP made steady progress when improving in her last start over 1300m. It is encouraging to see that top jockey Luis Saez has opted to ride the daughter of Liam’s Map today. He may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most. Should the top selection fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

Race 5
SO CHARMING has come well in her last two starts for her new trainer. She stalked the leader, moved up at the top of the straight and held on for the victory last time. She has won twice from three attempts over this distance. Victor Lebron retains the ride and the pair should notch up a quick double. ALGODONAL has very good consistent formlines to her credit. She challenged strongly all the way to the line last time, but went down by just a head at the wire. Rajiv Maragh retains the ride and he should have a better idea as to how to get the best out of this daughter of Afleet Alex. From pole position, she merits obvious inclusion.

Race 6
TAKE CHARGE DUDE is the best bet on today’s programme. His last start on the turf surface was all wrong and can be completely ignored. He was slow into stride, raced three wide and understandably had no kick in the straight. However, he was ultra-impressive when winning his penultimate start over the minimum trip on this course. He is a six-time winner on the dirt surface and should make that seven today. STARSHIP APOLLO is in very good form. Despite racing three wide in his last start, he showed good guts and determination to get the win. He does take on stronger today, but the son of First Dude looks to have some class about him and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 7
GIOIELLI was disappointing in her last start after producing good consistent form. She was slow into stride that day and never got into the race. On previous form, she ran her best races when racing up with the pace. Luis Saez retains the ride this afternoon which is encouraging. If jumping on terms, she has a good chance of getting back to winning ways in this type of field. ZODIAC PRINCESS has not finished too far behind the winner in recent outings. She showed good pace in her last start, but gave way to challengers in the closing stages. She has a decent record over this distance with four seconds and two third-place finishes from eight outings. She should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection.

Race 8
FOUR GRANDS was ultra-impressive when winning by 6.5 lengths on debut over six furlongs on this course. She picked the lead up at the top of the straight and the manner in which she quickened was eye-catching. She does take on much stronger this afternoon, but the manner in which she won suggests she has some class about her. Luis Saez sticks with the ride and the pair should remain unbeaten. SUPER CUTE was also an easy and impressive winner on debut. She raced just behind the leaders turning for home and drew well clear in the closing stages. Joel Rosario rides on her first run at this course and if she is suited to the track, she should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice.

Race 9
POSITIVE PHIL has not finished too far behind the winner in recent outings. He should have finished closer in his last start, but he had to yield at a crucial stage up the straight. He has finished third twice from three starts over this distance, Luis Saez retains the ride this afternoon and with a bit of luck in running he should be the one they all have to beat. SIR HOSKI’S last four starts have been very good. The manner in which he ran on up the straight last time was eye-catching. The son of Kitten’s Joy has finally cracked a good draw today, which should help him sit closer to the leaders turning for home. Edgard Zayas knows him well and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 10
R MAN JOE is one of the better bets on today’s card. He has shown plenty of speed in all three of his runs to date, but he has cost himself winning by hanging in the closing stages. He doesn’t meet the strongest field today and should get his consistency rewarded if keeping on a straight line. He is drawn wide, but he should use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy. SHARED LEGACY showed good improvement in his last start over this course and distance. He challenged all the way to the finishing post that day, but went down by just a neck. Paco Lopez retains the ride and if confirming the improvement shown last time, he should be right there in the fight to the finish.
