The best bet comes in Race 5 in the form of GALAWI. He produced a promising debut effort when finishing second on the all-weather surface. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one they all have to beat.

Race 1 – PRIX DU PAVE DE THIERS
This is a weak Class 3 Handicap to start the day’s proceedings and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is GOT FLIGHT who is a filly taking on the males. She is an honest filly who produced a very good post maiden effort when finishing third over this distance at Compiegne last time. She jumps from a mid-field barrier position this afternoon and if continuing her good run of form, she may be the one they all have to beat. BARSHAM has not finished too far off the winner in his last four starts. He finished third three runs back on this course and from his handy draw today, he should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection. QUEEN FLAWLESS is a maiden taking on winners, but she has placed in her last two starts. She has no stamina issues and with in-form Pierre-Charles Boudot in the saddle, she should be right there in the run down to the finishing post.

Race 2 – PRIX DU PAVE DE LA BICHE
Just like the opening event, this is another weak Class 3 Handicap and caution must be taken. The tentative first choice is JENILAT CHANCE. She is a filly who was in need of her last two starts in this Class. She is much better than those two races and will enjoy the rise to the twelve furlongs. The daughter Rajsaman is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. DIONYSIS has shown some signs of improvement in his last two starts. He is returning from a lay-off this afternoon and if not in need of the run, he should be the one to pick up the pieces should the top choice fluff her lines. SPOKESMAN returns from a much-needed break this afternoon. He had lost his best form in his last two starts but finished second over 2800m at Argentan three starts ago. The son of Alhabayeb has no issues with regards to stamina and should be involved in the fight out to the finish in this weak line-up.

Race 3 – PRIX BERTRAND DU BREUIL LONGINES STAKES (Group 3)
The main event on the day is a Group 3 race for four-year-olds and older over a mile. SKALLETI is one of the better bets on today’s card. He is a winner of nine of his ten career starts to date, including Group 2 victories in his last two starts. He hasn’t raced since November, but he has class and should have no issues with the drop back to the mile. Jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot knows him well and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure once again. PLUMATIC has very good consistent form lines to his name, including winning a Group 2 event at Saint-Cloud in his penultimate outing. He returns from a lengthy break this afternoon, but it is encouraging that jockey Christophe Soumillon does duty on his return. NATURE’S COLOURS is the pick of the Andre Fabre runners. He was an impressive winner of a Listed race in his comeback run in March. The son of Poet’s Voice does take a rise in class this afternoon, but he should be one of the fitter horses in this race and she gets the services of Mickael Barzalona who knows him well.

Race 4 – PRIX DE LA CALECHE DES IMPERATRICES
This is an open Maiden Plate for the three-year-old fillies as there are many horses with a decent chance of winning. The narrow first choice is ALKANDORA from the Andre Fabre stable with Mickael Barzalona in the irons. She produced a promising debut effort at Longchamp over nine furlongs in October last year. She would have come on from that outing and during the break, would have strengthened up. The daughter of Nathaniel will enjoy the extra furlong on offer and she has a good chance of going one better here. MACCAJA produced an eye-catching debut effort when finishing runner-up over 1900m on this course. She would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be right there in the run down to the finishing post. EBAIYRA also finished second on debut. She ran a cracker over a mile at Saint-Cloud in September. She would have come on from that outing and would have been given the time to strengthen up. Christophe Soumillon retains the ride today and the pair merits healthy respect.

Race 5 – PRIX DE LA BERLINE DU DUC DE BOURBON
GALAWI is the best bet on today’s programme. The son of Dubawi produced a promising debut effort when finishing runner-up over 1900m on the all-weather surface. He would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, he has a good chance of going one better here. He is very well bred and will enjoy the extra distance on offer. In-form Maxime Guyon retains the ride and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. BOIS D’ARGENT is an unraced son of Toronado with Pierre-Charles Boudot in the saddle. He does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this type of field and if not too green, should be one of the leading contenders for the placings. LORD WELLINGTON has finished runner-up in his last two starts. The manner in which he races suggests that he will enjoy the step up to the ten furlongs. If fit and well, he should be able to run into the money one again.

Race 6 – PRIX DU CENTRE D'ENTRAINEMENT
This next contest is a race for the stayers over 3000m. There are a few horses in this race with a decent shout of winning and the narrow first choice is CHECKPOINT CHARLIE. He ran a good race when finishing third over 2500m at Deauville last time. The step up in distance should suit him well as he has finished second over fourteen furlongs in the past. Stephane Pasquier knows him well and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. GET SHIRTY produced some decent consistent form before given a break. He is yet to try today’s distance, but it is encouraging that he gets the services of Christophe Soumillon. If seeing out the extra trip on offer, he should be right there in the run down to the finishing post. SARENDAM was in need of his last start over twelve furlongs. He ran an absolute cracker when finishing second over this distance at Saint-Cloud in his penultimate outing. If repeating that run with Clement Guitraud in the saddle, he should have a decent chance of running into the money.

Race 7 – PRIX DES PISTES D'ENTRAINEMENT
SUDFAA has had a good start to her 2020 season having won once, finishing second once and third once from as many starts. She is a proven stayer having had success over further. Stephane Pasquier who was aboard her when finishing second last time, retains the ride this afternoon and he will have a better idea of how she likes to race. The daughter of Sri Putra should come into this contest as one of the fitter horses and should take a power of beating. TURANIA is a maiden taking on winners, but he ran a very good race when finishing second over 2500m in this class last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will enjoy the extra distance on offer this afternoon. Vincent Cheminaud knows him well and the combination should be the ones to pick up the pieces, should the top choice fluff her lines. FINJAANS ROSE was an impressive winner of her last start in Class 3 company over twelve furlongs at Compiegne. She does face her toughest test to date, but the manner in which she won last time suggests that there is more in the tank. With a bit of luck in running from her wide barrier position, she should be involved in the run down to the wire.

Race 8 – PRIX DE BARBERY
ZIGHIDI notched up her first career victory over this course and distance last time. The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor takes on a similar type of field this afternoon and with Mickael Barzalona engaged to ride, she has a good chance of notching up the double. WINMAN IN GREY’S last two starts over 1900m have been decent. He is a versatile sort as he has run decent races over a variety of different distances. He gets the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice this afternoon which should help his cause. With a bit of luck in running from his wide barrier position, he should pose a threat to the top choice. JAMALA has not got the most consistent form to her credit, but she ran a good race when finishing second over this distance at Fontainebleau last time. She does have a wide draw to overcome today, but she gets the services of Pierre-Charles Boudot who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 9 – PRIX DE BOREST
OPERA CHOP is the value bet on this afternoon’s programme. He is a maiden taking on winners, but on best form shown, he should be the one they all have to beat. He does return from a much-needed break this afternoon. It is encouraging that jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot takes the ride aboard the son of Amadeus Wolf and the pair could be the ones to cause the upset. MYBOYGILLES has not finished too far off the action in recent outings in this class. The son of Myboycharlie gets the services of Christophe Soumillon this afternoon and if continuing his good run of form, he may be the one to pick up the pieces should the top selection fluff his lines. FIRE AT MIDNIGHT showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1500m. He should come into the race as one of the fitter horses and if repeating his latest outing, he should be right there in the run down to the wire.

Race 10 – PRIX DE BARON
Another weak Class 4 Handicap closes off the meeting. The tentative first selection is MAKENJAR who is a maiden taking on winners, but he has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. The run that catches the eye is when finishing second over this distance at Cagnes-Sur-Mer on 29 January. If repeating that outing today, he should be the one they all have to beat. It is encouraging that jockey Maxime Guyon retains the ride aboard the son of Panis. KENZOKI has decent recent form lines to his credit. He has had three runs this season for one third and two fourth-place finishes. He gets the services of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice which should help his cause. LENKA is a filly taking on the males and she produced some fair form before given a break. She gets the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice today and if not in need of the run, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.
