There are nine races at the Valley course this Wednesday 6th May. With a few favourites going missing in recent times, punters could be looking for value and there appears to be a few nice opportunities to find them on this card. FANTASTIC FABIO could be one of the better ‘risk’ bets on the card, when he goes to post in the 3rd race. He finds a decent draw and looks well handicapped to go right into contention. The best bet however, comes in the 7th race when REEL BIZZY will be looking to convert his good recent form, since going over a bit more ground, into a win. See more here.

MONKEY JEWELLERY
has dropped another point in the ratings after that good last run over this
course and distance, when overcoming barrier 10 last time. That was his first
run since dropping into this class and he looks very competitive off his
current mark of 59. From a much-improved draw, Joao Moreira retains the ride
and he looks perfectly placed to win this. GOKO
has also been dropping in the ratings and he gave a good account when returning
to this course, for his second outing since dropping to this level. The 1kg claiming
So regains the ride and the son of O’Reilly should be a major contender here. LORIZ returns to a course and distance
where we have seen his best form and he picks a plum draw to aid his chances
even further here. Zac Purton picks up the ride and he’ll be a prominent
contender throughout. SUPER LUCKY
has been in good consistent form over this course and distance in recent times.
The wide draw won’t help, but he has a big finish and with luck he should be
involved.

Selections: 3 – 1 –

RICH AND LUCKY
has his Happy Valley debut after a decent start to his career consisting of 6
outings at Sha Tin, where he has picked up a win and two seconds. The son of
Kingman had an interrupted trip last time out, when stepping up to the mile and
he will be looking to capitalize on the plum draw he has found first up at the
Valley course. Purton regains the mount and they should be tough to beat. BIG BANG BONG drops into this class on
the back a decent effort in stronger company last time out. He has had three
tough draws to deal with in his last three outings, but his luck has improved
here, and he will benefit from gate 2 this time. His best form has come over
this course and distance, so the step up in trip will suit and he looks a
threat. ROYAL RACER has been
knocking on the door of late and he will be hoping for a much-smoother passage
this time, after finding traffic at a crucial point approaching the straight in
his latest effort. From another plum draw, Joao Moreira should be able to guide
him into a prominent position and they have the credentials to feature in the
finish. FLAME LILLY is a consistent
performer over this course and distance and despite the draw, he finds conditions
to suit and he should finish in the money.

FANTASTIC FABIO
has been dropping in the ratings for a while now and despite not featuring
prominently of late, it is worth looking back to the last time he found a
decent draw. From the same gate he finds himself jumping from today, he went
close to winning from a prominent position on that occasion. With Alfred Chan
back up today, claiming 3,5kg, he should be difficult to catch from a handy
position. YEE CHEONG PEGASUS beat
the top selection last time out, when almost winning. That was a continuation
of a smart run of form he has enjoyed lately, and Joao Moreira makes for a
confidence boosting jockey engagement. The son of Lonhro lines up 5,5kg worse
off with the former and that could make things tougher this time around. With
that said, he should be a leading contender. COMPASSION STAR and BULLISH
BROTHER both arrive with decent credentials and they must have reasonable
chances if overcoming draws 9 and 8 respectively.

1650m – Class 4 Handicap
Selections: 1 – 4 –
10 – 6 – 2
METHANE has
rallied well from difficult barriers in his last three starts and the draw he
has picked up here isn’t much better. The blinkers seemed to assist in his last
two starts and they will be fitted once again. Karis Teetan takes the mount and
with his recent form in mind, he should be the one to beat. LIGHTNING STEED endured a tough trip on
the All-Weather last time out, when overcoming a very wide draw. On his
penultimate run over this course and distance he rates a bit threat from gate 2,
with Moreira up. PERFECT HARMONY
finished behind the top selection last time out and he lines up 3,5kg better
off at the weights this time. with just four starts to his name, he has plenty
of scope for improvement and must be considered a danger. MISSION SMART has his fourth career outing here and he will be
hoping for a much smoother passage if his first three runs are anything to go
on. Gate 3 will allow for him to pick a position much closer to the lead and he
should be involved in the finish, with the expected improvement to come.

MOMENTUM GALAXY
has started to show promising signs with the drop in ratings and he could’ve
gone a lot closer in his latest effort had it not been for late traffic. That
was when dropping into this class over the same course and distance. The form
line of that run has been confirmed with the winner, Simply Fluke, following up
and winning again as well as Destine Jewellery who lines up here. Zac Purton
takes the ride this time and they’ll be one of the better bets on the card. THE RUNNER enjoyed the return to this
course over the same trip last time out, when Antoine Hamelin jumped aboard. The
removal of the blinkers seemed to work, coupled with his competitive current
rating, he should be the biggest threat to the top one. MILLENIUM FALCON gave a good impression on debut a month ago and
the 3-year old son of Charm Spirit will have a tricky draw to overcome in his
attempt to build on that effort. However, he produced a powerful finish on that
occasion, and he will be doing his best work late once again. HARMONY N HOME gets the services of
Joao Moreira this time after finding no luck in running last time out, in his
effort to follow up on that good penultimate run. With just four runs to his
name, he will have plenty of scope for improvement and gate 1 brings him into
the equation.

FLYING GENIUS
returns to a course and distance where he has picked up two wins from three
attempts and he lands a plum draw to build on that record here. Karis Teetan
jumps back aboard having won on him prior to this and the son of All Too Hard
should be good value to win this, with plenty more improvement to come. BE READY finds a much-improved draw and
lines up 4kg’s better off with Larson this time around, after a length beating
by the latter in his last start. That was his second start at this course, his
first over the track and trip, and with Purton retaining he should be a big
contender. VICTORY IN HAND has
continued his good recent form over the 1200m into this class. He finds a very
good draw for this drop in trip which should suit his early speed and with the
2,5kg claimer up, he must be considered. SPECIAL
STARS is improving as he continues to drop in the ratings and with Moreira
jumping back aboard from a good draw, he must be included.
Race 7 – 15:45 –
1650m – Class 3 Handicap
Selections: 3 – 1 – 7
– 6 – 2
REEL BIZZY did
well to overcome a tricky draw last time out. He endured a tough trip
throughout and became baulked for running in the closing stages, to finish just
1,75-lengths behind the winner. He now lines up 3,5kg’s better off with the
latter. The recent rise to this sort of trip has suited and he clearly enjoys
the Valley course. Zac Purton takes the mount from barrier 4 and he should be
very tough to beat here. SUNSHINE
WARRIOR is unbeaten in two starts since stepping up to this course and
distance. Despite the penalty received for those two recent wins, he finds a
useful draw once again and must have a reasonable chance of going into
contention for the hattrick of wins. SUCH
A HAPPINESS has only had one start at this course from his 24 career
outings. He returns for his follow up effort after showing good improvement
since being fitted with the blinkers two starts back. Karis Teetan jumps back
aboard the son of Savabeel and he should be one of the leading contenders here.
ENFOLDING finished right in front
the top selection in his last start when returning to the Turf after an
All-Weather campaign. That was his second start over this course and distance,
and he must have a decent chance of improving on that record here.
Race 8 – 16:15 –
1200m – Class 3 Handicap
Selections: 12 – 6 –
7 – 2 – 3
SUPERB DADDY
rallied wide from a tough position in his last start, to finish just
2,5-lengths behind the winner. That was the second of two wide draws he has
been dealt in his last two outings. He lands draw 2 this time and lines up
5,5kg better off the latter. Off his mark of 60, he could just cause the upset.
WHISKEY NEAT has slipped 10-points
in the ratings in his last six starts and he is starting to show signs of a big
performance in this class, despite being drawn wide in his last two. The
blinkers come off this time and with Moreira up, he should be right there at
the business end. WINNING FEELING
has been right there in his last two starts since rising back into this class.
Both runs were all the way back in January this year, as a result of the vet
finding blood in his trachea after his last run. Drawn well, he can bounce back
first up. GOLDEN DASH followed up
that good recent win over this this course and distance with a well deserved
second last time out. He is a three-time winner in just ten starts and he is
yet to miss the first four. If overcoming the draw, he can feature.
Race 9 – 16:50 –
1650m – Class 2 Handicap
Selections: 2 – 1 –
11 – 8 – 7
A tricky race to end
off proceedings and the narrow first selection goes to an outsider in the form
of INSAYSHABLE. He has slipped to a
competitive looking mark of 95 now and he will be looking to build on that
gutsy trip last time out, when boxing on well over a tough trip. He finds a
decent draw and conditions to suit, and he should be one of the leading
contenders at the business end. DANCES
WITH DRAGON won his last start from
a tricky draw, when being asked the question a long way out and quickening to
win narrowly. The drop in trip will suit similar tactics and with Purton
retaining the ride, he must be considered. SOLAR
WAI WAI steps up in class on the back three solid performances in Class 3
company, when picking up two wins and going down narrowly in his penultimate
start. He should have the gate speed to negate the wide draw and find his
customary handy position, and with two wins from his five attempts over this
course and distance he could go close in this company. ENRICHMENT finished right behind the top weight last time. He lines
up 1,5kg’s better off with the latter for just a head beating and with Moreira
retaining the ride, he looks a natural inclusion.
