Fonner Park Best Bets

Race 2 (Starter Allowance): No5 - KNIGHT DISRUPTOR
Trainer: Kelli Martinez - Jockey: Armando Martinez

Defending a good record at the track, in which he’s finished second and won an allowance optional claimer, KNIGHT DISRUPTOR has a good shot at preventing Retrofit complete a hat-trick. The much travelled pick competes for a trainer operating at 45% winners to runners and has the natural speed to successfully revert from six furlongs to this minimum half mile distance. Retrofit is a dual course and distance scorer from as many races here, but needs to graduate further if he’s to carry on winning. Man Camp needs to put behind him a poor run last time and regain his smart earlier form if he’s to menace, but he could.

Prediction: 5-1-2

Race 3 (Starter Allowance): No4 - WARRIOR’S LULLABY
Trainer: Kelli Martinez - Jockey: Armando Martinez

The same trainer/jockey combo can take the other starter allowance on the card with WARRIOR’S LULLABY. The five-year-old has been right in the zone in landing two allowances in his short time here. He seems to have improved off the claim and can prove too hot for Astonishing Tweet to handle. The latter landed some good bets in successive claiming successes but doesn’t have quite the level of form as his foe. Out Of Patience is another to consider after running well in three lesser races since his move here off the claim.

Prediction: 4-6-5

Race 5 (Allowance Optional Claiming): No9 - SUPER CHARLIE
Trainer: Richard Bliss - Jockey: Chris Fackler

It wouldn’t be wrong to state that SUPER CHARLIE has enjoyed a ‘blissful’ experience since moving to this barn with a couple of impressive wins in an AOC and straight allowance on the sprint track. His trainer appears to have him in a better place than ever, and although now a nine-year-old the gelding clearly isn’t feeling his age. In this he can expect a challenge from two unexposed rivals. Ye Be Judged is a three-year-old with points on the board and Name The Price also enters calculations after mastering that foe over track and trip last time.

Prediction: 9-6-5

Race 7 (Allowance Optional Claiming): No2 - LOVETHATCAUSE
Trainer: David Anderson - Jockey: Jake Olesiak

As the only confirmed trailblazer in the field, LOVETHATCAUSE has a great chance in wiring this to complete a fine hat-trick. He’s justified hefty support by bolting up on his last two starts and if getting loose on the lead might not come back. My Boy Lolipop debuts for the same stable, and as an unexposed three-year-old has to be respected if taking his chance. He did everything right when scoring last time, and that was just three weeks ago. Mallory’s Bandit is another to consider putting in. His progress has been slow, but he’s definitely edging towards a pick up.

Prediction: 2-1-5
