International Racing: Pakenham Park - Tuesday 9 June 2020

A competitive nine-race programme is scheduled for Pakenham Park (Synthetic) on Tuesday with plenty value on offer for racing pundits. The best bet is BAILARIN in Race 3. This chestnut filly was unlucky last time out when held up for a clear run at the 300m mark to only be pipped at the wire. She will take a power of beating and should make amends this afternoon.

Best Bet: BAILARIN (Race 3)
Value Bet: KUROCAINE (Race 8)

Race 1
RIP CITY is drawn well and has placed four times this season. He meets a moderate field this afternoon and will have every chance of shedding his maiden tag. The chestnut DUBIAN MYTH was just behind the top selection in his penultimate outing and looks the obvious threat to the top selection. SMUG SISTER made a vast improvement on her debut effort and still has plenty of scope for improvement. She will also benefit from a 1.5kgs apprentice allowance in this contest.

Race 2
SANBUCK may be rewarded for consistency this afternoon. He has placed in his last four outings and only narrowly failed last time out at Ballarat. He looks like the one to beat but will have to be weary of SPIRITOFTHEVALLEY. She is a filly taking on males but has placed in her last two starts and should pose a serious threat to the top selection. PRINCESS DIVA is held by the top selection on her latest but that formline is looking good with to winners having come out and won since.

Race 3
BAILARIN narrowly failed last time out at Ballarat and has had a decent season thus far. She looks well placed in this against her own sex and with Melham aboard, she could take a power of beating in this contest. JACIN TALE is coming along the right way and was only beaten just under three lengths on this track. She was no match for the winner that day but looks a strong contender in this Maiden. MISIRLOU made surprise improvement last time out at Ballarat and if confirming that effort, she can run into the places.

Race 4
THELBURG enjoys racing at Pakenham Park and her consistent record at this track shows that. He has finished runner-up in his last two starts and his next career win looks on the horizon. DANCE READY should get across from his wide draw without using too much energy and he will benefit from a 1.5kgs apprentice allowance. WALK FREE has completed exotics in her last two starts and may just be able to find a bit extra in the closing stages afternoon. She must be considered for the places.

Race 5
PARIS GEM followed up her last career win with two smart efforts, the most recent at Ballarat where she was only beaten one and a half lengths at the wire. The form of that has worked out well with a winner coming from it since. STAGE FRONT should overcome his wide draw without using too much energy and although he shoulders 61kgs, he looks like a serious threat to the top selection. THURMANATOR is back from a break and if returning fresh, then he can run into the places.

Race 6
ATONE narrowly failed on this track last time against stronger and could take a power of beating, although this is a competitive handicap. DIXIE BUILT likes to race eagerly and he jumps from an inside barrier. He won’t have to use up too much energy in the early stages and may have some left in the tank for the final furlong. The New Zealand-bred SLICK BACK possibly needed his comeback effort at Cranbourne and can find a swift return to form in this contest.

Race 7
GENERALMAINTENANCE looks nicely weighted in this contest even with the 61kgs to shoulder and could represent solid each-way value for punters. The son of High Chaparral won stylishly last time at Bendigo over twelve furlongs and will have no stamina issues over this type of distance. CHABA CHARLI has finished runner-up in his last two starts and on paper, looks a rival to be with. SO SCHMICK gets a 2kgs apprentice claimer and if repeating his penultimate run at Bairnsdale, then he can run into the places of this contest.

Race 8
KUROCAINE looks ready for his next career victory. He has been right up there in his last two starts and performs well for apprentice Quilty, who will take the 4kgs off the back. ORAKAI fought gamely on this track last time out when outrun very late but can make amends and looks a massive contender in this event. BRAZEN BRANDO is a one-time winner but he went gun to post when winning his maiden race and he looks a progressive sort in the making.

Race 9
BELZELLA won nicely last time out at Ballarat and the form of that race has worked out positively with two runners having come out and won since. She should find a decent position off the pace and do her best work in the latter stages of the race. VINCENT VAN GO has finished runner-up in is his last two starts and with Noonan aboard, he looks like the biggest danger to the top selection. THE PUGILIST has his first run this season but on form looks ready for his next career triumph and must be considered.
