Jackpot (race 5 – 8) - Cost: R50.00

Race 4
JAGUAR GREY drops back from a mile to the seven furlongs where she has posted two solid recent runs, winning three outings back. She has a mid-field draw and gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, she looks to be the one to side with here. MELTEME returns from a 32-week break and has had the one barrier trial. She also drops back from a mile of her last start and is drawn one inside the former. SHOWZALI on the other hand steps up in trip after finishing fifth last time out, three lengths off the winner. She will jump from a handy four gate. DIVINE QUEST finished a creditable fourth over six furlongs when returning from a 25-week break. If not in need of one more outing, she could be involved in the finish here.

Race 5
SILVER SCOUT has consistent formlines to his credit and has his peak run today. He battled all the way down to the line last time out over this c&d and if showing the same determination here, he should be right up there in the dash down to the wire. FORGOTTEN JEWEL won by a length when making his debut over this distance, but was immediately rested for 17 weeks. He has had the benefit of a solid barrier trial and despite having to contend with the widest draw of them all, he should be a serious threat to the top pick. HOTHAM VALLEY is seldom too far off the action and should put in another honest performance today. MODERATOR returns from a 19-week rest and has not had a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to taken on trust. He did win his maiden race last time out over a mile and should be considered in this line-up.

Race 6
STAR GLITTER cracked pole position and steps up in trip after two runs over six furlongs, which should be to his liking. He will get 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. FRIAR'S GIFT has his first run for his new trainer and will get an even greater 4kgs taken of his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming appie. If fully settled into his new surroundings, he should be a danger to the former. TURBO POWER followed up his victory over this c&d with an encouraging third-place finish next time out over 1300M. He has draw thirteen to negotiate but should be doing his best work late. CHESTEN FLYER is drawn one inside the latter, but he has shown improvement in his last two starts over six furlongs and should enjoy going over the extra distance.

Race 7
Two 4yr old and one 3yr old fillies look as if they are going to dominate the finish to this race and complete the trifecta. The top choice goes to PORPHYRIO who has recorded solid form over shorter distances. She steps up in trip but will have 3kgs taken off her back for the services of her claiming apprentice and this could count over the 2100M journey. CELTIC DIVA has her hat-trick attempt after winning her last two outings over ten furlongs. She is drawn wide at twelve, but she should be right up there in the firing line. PETTICOAT JUNCTION was slightly disappointing in her last start, but she had to be held up during that race and the effort can be forgiven. With better luck in running today, she could trouble the top two selections. ALMASTER won his last outing over eleven furlongs and from pole position he should be viewed a big runner here.

Race 8
GOLDEN BONNEY is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with a narrow win last time out over this c&d. From gate two, she should give the males a good run for their money. AVALON BAY also won his last outing over the c&d. He starts from draw eight and could be the immediate danger to the former. MR MT WALKER steps up in trip after finishing second last time out over 1300M. He is drawn wideout at gate fourteen, but he could use his early gate speed to move across without using up too much energy. INTERSTATE is drawn one inside the latter and will also step up from 1300M of his latest run. He was 1.5L back that day and should be given some sort of chance in this field.
