Race 2 DARLEY PRIX MORNY (Group 1)

No3 CAIRN GORM (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon - Jockey: Gerald Mosse

American-trainer filly Campanelle clashes with two-times winner Tactical in the best juvenile race run at the Deauville festival, with the former fresh from blitzing her foes in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. Tactical took out his own slice of that pie by landing the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes, then followed-up in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket. However those form lines were devalued when runner-up Yazaman flopped in Friday’s Gimcrack Stakes at York. Rhythm Master is a very interesting addition to the field by Richard Fahey after his wide margin debut success at Haydock but will need to be ultra smart to follow-up in a Group 1. Coventry Stakes winner Nando Parrado needs to show his 150-1 shocker wasn’t a fluke and the value bet is the unbeaten CAIRN GORM. The son of Bated Breath won at Windsor and Newbury before stepping up to capture a Group 3 over today’s course and distance. The gritty determination he displayed on that occasion should stand him in good stead and he’s developed both physically and mentally in his work at home.
Prediction: 1st CAIRN GORM, 2nd Rhythm Dancer, 3rd Tactical, 4th Campanelle, 5th Nando Parrado

Race 4 DARLEY PRIX JEAN ROMANET (Group 1)

No2 NAZEEF
Trainer: John Gosden - Jockey: Frankie Dettori

Dettori’s decision to remain in France after the isolation regulations came in is yielding a handsome dividend and NAZEEF is another strong reason why he’s done so. The Invincible Spirit filly has graduated from being a Listed all-weather winner to landing a Group 2 at Royal Ascot and the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket. She then lost no caste in defeat by finishing third to Fancy Blue in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. That defeat ended a six race winning sequence for the selection, who can get the better of the Aga Khan-owned Dariyma and aspiring maiden Romanciere.

Race 5 DARLEY PRIX KERGORLAY (Group 2)

No9 CALL THE WIND (Nap)
Trainer: Freddy Head - Jockey: Olivier Peslier

This stamina test looks to be CALL THE WIND’s for the taking. The long-striding son of Frankel found it hard to get his head in front last year, but it’s been a different story in 2020. In spite of the disruption to racing he’s taken out a valuable handicap in Saudi Arabia and a Group 3 at this course, before going down fighting in a Group 2 at Chantilly last time. Head has freshened him up for the series of top staying races in France in the late summer and autumn, and he can continue his winning spree for spirting owner George Strawbridge.
