Neil Morrice: International Racing - Tuesday 25 August 2020

Neil Morrice Best Bets

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from Yarmouth, Catterick, and Bangor-On-Dee on Tuesday 25 August 2020.

YARMOUTH

Race 1: No1 - AJRAD
Trainer: Ed Dunlop - Jockey: Jim Crowley

New Approach colt AJRAD started a 22-1 roughie on debut at Ascot but excelled himself in beating all but Laneqash. His owner Sheikh Hamdan is enjoying a stellar summer and unless there’s something a bit special amongst the newcomers the selection should open his account.

Race 2: No7 - FLIRTY RASCAL
Trainer: Tom Ward - Jockey: Tom Marquand

FLIRTY RASCAL progressed from debut to chase home the impressive Illykato at Windsor, with the pair coming away from the remainder of the field. The Acclamation filly has done well at home subsequently and should take out this novice stakes if maintaining her upward move on the learning curve.

Race 7: No2 - MOSTLY (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden - Jockey: Rab Havlin

Given the dominance shown by MOSTLY in opening her account at Kempton, the Makfi filly is going to prove hard to beat even though facing strong opposition from Jaariyah and Areehaa. When let off the leash the Nap powered clear of Model Guest and looks a top prospect for her sporting owner George Strawbridge. Both her rivals are coming back from long absences, while she is totally in the zone, and will appreciate the step up to a mile.

CATTERICK

Race 5: No7 - GOLDEN HIND
Trainer: David O’Meara - Jockey: Danny Tudhope

Having earned in each of her three starts, GOLDEN HIND finds herself in calmer waters than when making her handicap bow at York. She was readily put in her place on that occasion, but earlier near misses at this course and Ripon suggest she’s got the ability to go well at today’s level.

Race 6: No6 - MR CARPENTER
Trainer: Tim Easterby - Jockey: Cam Hardie

The unexposed MR CARPENTER pulled off a 100-1 shock at York to herald a turn in the right direction. The gelding went up just 2lb for that which puts him in with a good chance of preventing Clearance completing a hat-trick. The latter has been in good order since the resumption of racing but may find the concession of 3lb to Mr Carpenter too much.

Race 7: No3 - MODEL GUEST
Trainer: Archie Watson - Jockey: Hollie Doyle

MODEL GUEST is vastly more experienced than her foes in this fillies' novice stakes and her good run against Mostly at Kempton gives her a fine chance of staving off the challenges of With Thanks and Newscaster. The blinkered selection will be hard to beat if showing resilience at the finish.

BANGOR-ON-DEE

Race 2: No7 - MISSTREE SONG
Trainer: Dan Skelton - Jockey: Harry Skelton

Although turned over when odds-on for a bumper here last month, MISSTREE SONG can make amends on this switch to hurdling. She appears to have benefitted from a wind operation in the close season and is reported to have schooled well.

Race 3: No1 - THE VOLLAN
Trainer: Charlie Longsdon - Jockey: Paul O’Brien

After two runs back THE VOLLAN should be cherry ripe for a first win in almost a year as he tackles fences for the first time. His consistency is reflected in good efforts to finish placed in handicap hurdles at Uttoxeter and Market Rasen, and he’s reportedly taken well to the larger obstacles at home.

Race 7: No3 - VOCALISER (Nap)
Trainer: Olly Murphy - Jockey: Richard Johnson

VOCALISER has joined a slick operation and if anywhere near his best will be hard to beat for a trainer/jockey combo that are firing in the winners. He was rated in the 120s a couple of years ago, and at the age of eight has time in his side to prove a force in middle distance handicap chases.
