RACE 1

VIRTUS STAR only got beaten by a length in his comeback effort. He races again with not much weight on his back and will get all the necessary assistance with Alex Badel in the irons. SKY GEM will benefit from the late scratching of CHARITYDREAM who has his measure by two lengths the last time they met at Sha Tin. He shoulders top weight in this opening contest but if getting across from his wide draw without using too much energy, then he will be right there at the business end of affairs. ENJOYABLE SUCCESS showed signs of needing his comeback run and the Irish-bred is definitely worth considering with Karis Teetan aboard.

RACE 2

SHINING ON races well fresh after a layoff. He finished runner-up in his last two outings before the break and on form looks a strong contender in this event. He was only beaten a length last time out by Momentum Happy and he can make amends from his inside barrier position. WOOD ON FIRE produces his best runs from off the pace and he caught the eye last time out when making good late progress behind Melbourne Hall on this track. He will benefit from a decent pace in the race and may be picking off the frontrunners in the dash to the wire. The South African-bred SEVENTH SEA wasn’t disgraced in his comeback run behind Momentum Galaxy and if coming on from that effort, then he can run into the places.

RACE 3

ARDENODE is yet to win a race which may be an optimistic choice but he went down narrowly in his last two outings before the break. He comes into the race with a light weight and won’t be a maiden for much longer. WILD WEST WING was only beaten 1.3L by Momentum Galaxy last time. It is encouraging that Magic Moreira has kept faith in the ride and the pair are most able to pose a threat to the top selection. TRAVEL DATUK races well fresh from a break, jumps from an inside barrier position and is much better than his last start suggests.

RACE 4

REEL BIZZY caught the eye in his comeback effort when only beaten a couple of lengths by Alpha Hedge on this track. He will strip a much fitter horse and from gate 2 will be tough to peg back in the closing stages of the fourth race. FLASH FAMOUS is an ultra-consistent sort that performs well with Magic Moreira in the irons. He has the form to be right there in this class and also does look fairly-handicapped. NAMJONG PLUS is held by the top selection on his last run but is drawn best of all and can run into the places.

RACE 5

BEAUTY ANGEL went for a well-deserved break after that last narrow victory over Circuit Number One. If returning fit then he can earn another victory in this class. BUNDLE OF ENERGY was finally rewarded last time out after consecutive runner-up berths. He faces stronger but will benefit from a 1kg claiming apprentice and he may be up to the task at hand. BULLISH GLORY didn’t shape last time out at Sha Tin but if reproducing his prior form then he can upset in the fifth race.

RACE 6

MURRAY’S PARTNERS has won his last two starts. He has built up a formidable partnership with top rider Karis Teetan and the hat-trick looks very much on the cards. He races fresh from a layoff and the manner in which he won those last two starts suggests there is plenty more to come. UNIVERSAL GO GO was beaten by LUCKY MISSILE last time out but is 2kgs better off at the weights which should be enough for the tables to be turned.

RACE 7

METRO WARRIOR still looks ahead of his current rating and he represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. He only won narrowly last time out being Allied Agility but it is encouraging that Zac Purton has kept faith in the ride and the pair could make it back-to-back triumphs in this contest. CALIFORNIA DEEPSHOT has good consistent form before the break and the conditions in this event suit him down to the wire. The break may have done him the world of good and on paper looks the obvious threat to the top selection. CANTSTOPTHEFEELING finished 1.3L behind Guy Dragon in his comeback effort and if coming on from that run he can run into the money once again.

RACE 8

CALIFORNIA RAD backed up his supporter’s last time out with an emphatic victory on this track when defeating Hardly Swears easier than the margin suggests. He looks well-weighted in this contest and should take a power of beating in the lucky last race. MAGNIFICENT has smart form before the layoff and he will benefit from a 1.5kgs claiming apprentice in this contest. He will find it tough getting past the top selection but can run into the money if returning fit. TOUCH OF LUCK steps up in class but is drawn pole and the way he won his last race suggests that he will be up to the task at hand.
