Race 5
OCULAR put nearly four and a half lengths between himself and the opposition when winning his last start over this distance. He hit the front at the 250M mark and drove strongly all the way down to the line to give the chasing pack no chance of winning. From a handy draw four, he is taken to be the best bet on today’s card. YULONG STORM missed out on completing his quartet of victories when finishing a neck second in his last outing over six furlongs. He drops in trip here, but this should not be an issue as he won over this distance three runs back. He is drawn one outside the top choice and could be his biggest danger. BEEHUNTER returns from an 18 week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial. He had finished second in his last two runs at this venue before the break and did not get the clearest of passages in his latest run over seven furlongs. He will have to negotiate a wide draw twelve, but he should be doing his best work late.

Race 6
LET'S KARAKA DEEL has only had the two runs to date, finishing second on debut over seven furlongs and then winning next time out over a mile. He steps up in distance once again, but he did finish strongly in that last victory, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He had a wideish gate eight, but he looks to be the value bet in the race. REUBER has consistent formlines to his name finishing second in his last two outings, the latest when just being denied victory by a short-head over nine furlongs. He jumps from a wider gate ten, but he should turn in another honest performance today. CHOIR won his maiden race last time out over ten furlongs, despite hanging in the latter stages of the race. He takes on stronger here, but he may well be up to the task on hand and should be included in all bets.

Race 7
SUKOOT came with a powerful late run to collar the leaders in the shadow of the post to record a short-head victory last time out over the mile journey. He faces a wide draw thirteen, but given his style of running, he should be dropped out of the race early and start reeling in the frontrunners in the closing stages of the contest. MELODEON is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She showed marked improvement last time out when stepping up to this trip to finish fourth, just over a length behind the winner. She has a far kinder gate five and should be right up there in the dash down to the wire. GRAND PROMENADE is seldom far off the action and although recorded as finishing eighth last time out over a mile, he was only just over two lengths back from the victor. He was returning from a 23 week break that day and is drawn one outside the latter.

Race 8
CORDILLA is a 4yr old filly taking on males. She missed out on her hat-trick when finishing sixth in her last outing over six furlongs, 1.7L behind the winner. She had won her two runs prior to that over today’s distance and should enjoy the drop in trip. It should be noted that she was hampered at the 400M mark in that last run and could have just about won the race but for that. She gets gate four and looks to be the one to side with here. TITAN BLINDERS has finished second in his last three outings and made good late progress last time out over six furlongs. He steps up in distance today, but this should not present a problem as he was just a neck behind the winner three runs back over today’s trip. CHAILLOT is another 4yr old filly in the race. She has only had the two runs to date, but she has won both of these, the first over six furlongs and the next over this trip before taking a lengthy 73 week break. She returns here without having the benefit of a barrier trial so her fitness will have to be taken on trust and she does face a wide draw of fifteen, but she clearly has some ability and should not be lightly dismissed.

Race 5
MANTELLI has made steady improvement in his last three runs, finishing second over seven furlongs in the latest, just a neck behind the winner. He was only able to get a clear run at the 250M mark and then shifted about in the closing stages of the race, so that effort was full of merit. He jumps from a handy gate five and looks to be the one to side with. INVIGORATING is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with a victory last time out over six furlongs, despite losing a shoe during the race. She has cracked pole position and should turn in another honest performance today. SUILVEN followed up his penultimate run victory over 1300M with a sixth place finish next time out over seven furlongs. He was hanging out from the 200M mark and should have finished closer to the winner as a result. From gate two, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 6
PURE DEAL has his hat-trick attempt having won his last two outings over this nine furlong journey, the latest by a neck. He hit the front at the 200M mark and then kept on going strongly to hold off all challengers. He has pulled gate three and should be right up there when they hit the line. BOREAS is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she is also on her hat-trick run after winning her last start over a mile by four lengths. She steps up in trip, but did record a win over this distance in her penultimate run, so this should not be an issue. She is drawn in gate seven and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. SAYL is seldom far off the action and was forced to race wide before ending up in third place in his last outing over this distance. He has drawn gate five and should be included in all bets.

Race 7
BOBLEE is on a hat-trick having won his last two outings over this five furlong sprint distance, the latest by 1.3L. He has his second run after a 33 week break and will jump from gate seven. He renews his rivalry with INVINCORE who finished 1.4L behind him in the race mentioned above. The latter is 2kgs better off at today’s weights and has a handier draw at gate three, so there should be very little between the pair today as they dash down to the wire. ABLE MABEL is a 4yr old filly taking on boys and did win her last outing over the five furlongs by one length. She will have to negotiate draw nine, but will get the services of ex-SA jockey Sean Cormack, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 8
GRAND ZOU has made solid improvement in his last two outings, finishing second, one length back in his latest start over 1100M when returning from a 29 week break. He has a wide draw of thirteen to overcome, but ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd retains the ride, so he will get all the help he needs from the irons. DR WHY NOT had no luck in the running before ending up in fourth place in his last outing over 1100M, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner. He had to be restrained at the 600M mark and was then hampered at the 100M mark that day, so under the circumstances, that effort was encouraging. He did post a victory over this trip three runs back and he should be competitive here jumping from pole position. JAZZ QUEEN is a 4yr old filly taking on boys. He made good late progress when finishing second in his last outing over 1100M, 2.3L off the victor, despite shifting about in the closing stages. He is drawn in gate eight and should be right up there in the firing line.
