Race 5
BARONET was a tad disappointing when finishing more than seven lengths off the winner last time out over 1300M and was immediately rested for 23 weeks. He returns here after finishing second in his only barrier trial and has cracked pole position. The form of that last race has however been franked and he could be the one to side with here. LUCKY TIME is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she is seldom far off the action, and although fifth in her last start over six furlongs, she was just over three lengths off the victor. She jumps from a handy gate four and will get a set of blinkers fitted for the first time. Another honest effort from her can be expected. LET'S BOOM is also a 5yr old mare. She raced up with the leaders when showing marked improvement to end up in second place in her last outing over this c&d. She will get 2kgs removed from her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and should be involved in the finish here. MOONSHINER has finished second in his last two runs, the latest when three and a half lengths back from the winner. He returns from a 21-week rest but has had the benefit of a barrier trial. He is drawn one outside the latter and should be included in all bets.

Race 6
TONY'S DECREE has finished second in his last four outings, the latest when a short-head back over 1700M. He hit the front at the 100M mark that day and was only run out of it late. The drop in trip should not be an issue and he was beaten by the same distance over this c&d in his penultimate start. He is sure to put his handy gate two to good use and is taken to be the value bet on today’s card. CELTIC TIGER has consistent formlines to his name and stayed on well when finishing second in his last start over six furlongs at this venue. He is drawn in gate five and will get the services of ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd. Another honest performance from him should be forthcoming. I’M CALLIN’ DIBS finished strongly when showing good improvement to record his maiden win last time out over 1100M, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He is drawn one inside the latter and despite taking on stronger today, he may well be up to the task on hand.

Race 7
NO NO NINETTE has shown solid improvement in her last two outings, winning the latest over five furlongs by a head to post her maiden victory. She steps up in distance here and is drawn the widest of them all in gate twelve, but she is a speedy sort who should be able to move across without using up too much energy. PRINCESS JUDE finished third in her last outing over 1100M despite being friendless in the betting markets. She made good late progress that day and gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time here. If these have the desired effect, she should be right up there in the mix. MY DIAMOND GIRL takes a further step up in distance after finishing sixth last time out over six furlongs and may do better as a result. She has pulled pole position and has her peak run today. As such, she should not be overlooked here.

Race 8
A 6yr old mare and a 4yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the clear top pick goes to DOTTI DEAR who was bumped at the start when missing out on her hat-trick last time out to finish third over 1100M, 0.6L behind the winner. She takes a step up in trip, but is drawn in gate two and is made the best bet on the day. HAUNTED HOUSE on the other hand will attempt to secure her trio of victories after going from jump to wire to win her last start over six furlongs by some two lengths. She is drawn gate four and will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice. She could be the biggest threat to the former. DISARMED followed up his penultimate run victory over this distance with a fourth-place finish over the same trip next time out, just over one and a half lengths behind the winner. He is drawn wide in gate eleven, but he does possess early gate speed which he should use to move across without expending too much energy.
