Race 5.
There are seven unraced entrants in this the opening leg of the Jackpot, so close attention should be paid to the betting markets to get any indication as to what the connections feel about their chances of winning first time out. Of the raced runners, JAYTEES may prove to be the best. He has shown steady improvement in his last three runs, finishing second in the latest over five furlongs, beaten just a short-head when returning from a 39 week break. He stayed on well that day and should enjoy the step up in distance. JUST A BROTHER has only had the two runs to date and showed the expected improvement when finishing third last time out over five furlongs, just under two lengths off the winner. From his handy draw two, he could be the biggest danger to the top choice. DIRADO is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys. She has also only had the two runs to date, but did not do show up as well when stepping up to six furlongs in her second start, but she did race wide that day and could do better going back over the shorter journey. She is drawn in gate six and will have 1.5kgs removed from her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.

Race 6.
FALCON finished third on debut over 1100M and then showed good improvement second time out over the same trip, finishing 2.3L behind the winner. He returns from an 18 week rest, but has put up three solid barrier trials, winning two of them, including the latest. He jumps from gate two and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. MOLLYCODDLE is a 3yr old filly taking on males and has her first run after a 15 week break, but she did win her only barrier trial to prove her fitness. Her last two outings over seven furlongs have been solid and she had to be switched in the latest before ending up in third place. She is drawn wideish in gate eight, but she should appreciate the drop in distance. GLORAYA is a 4yr old filly who returns from a 20 week absence, but she has had two encouraging barrier trials. She drops back to sprinting after finishing fifth last time out over a mile and should be involved in the finish here.

Race 7.
BELLE DE VEGA is a 5yr old mare taking on boys. She finished strongly for third place in her last outing over seven furlongs, just under a length behind the victor. She has her peak run today and although draw wide in gate eleven out of twelve, she looks to be the value bet on the day. WELL KNOWN followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a fifth place finish over 1500M next time out, two lengths behind the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and from draw five, he is likely to attempt similar tactics here. CHASING COMETS was baulked for a run at the 50M mark when showing good improvement to finish fourth last time out over 1300M, just under a length off the winner. He had gate two and will have 1.5kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice. He should be included in all bets.

Race 8.
TRAMINER won first time out over five furlongs and was immediately shipped off to Hong Kong where he finished third in his only start over six furlongs. He now returns to Australia and has his first run here after a lengthy 74 week absence, but has recorded two encouraging barrier trials. He has his first run for his new trainer and has cracked pole position. He should be right up there when they hit the line. DESTINY’S SON and MARGIE BEE renew their rivalry here and a form reversal is on the cards. The former finished 1.3L behind the latter in their last clash over this trip, but is 4.5kgs better off at today’s weights, thanks partially to his claiming apprentice, which should be enough for the tables to be turned. The latter is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she won when friendless in the betting markets last time out, so maybe she is improving. The pair are drawn in gates six and four respectively, so neither will get too big an advantage in that regard.

Race 3.
SANTISIMO has consistent formlines to his name and was seriously baulked for a run at the 150M mark when finishing second over this distance last time out and should just about have won the race but for that. He has cracked pole position and is taken to be the best bet on the day. BELZU had finished second in his two runs prior to winning last time out over five furlongs when leading from start to finish. From gate four, he looks to be the immediate danger to the top choice. ALEYSA'S MIRACLE is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she showed marked improvement to win her last outing over five furlongs by half a length. She is drawn one outside the latter and should be involved in the finish.

Race 4.
Three 3yr old fillies could dominate the finish to this race and complete the trifecta. SERIOUSTEMPTATION returns from a 33 week break, but did win her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. She is seldom far off the action and was making good late progress before ending up third in her last outing over this c&d, one length behind the winner. She faces a wide draw of fifteen, but she is likely to be dropped out of the race in the early stages and should be picking off the frontrunner over the closing stages of the contest. FINAL CRIME has her first run since an even longer 39 week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial. She also has her first run for her new trainer and if fully settled into her new surroundings, she should be right up there when they hit the line, based on her previous form. KETCHIKAN GOLD showed good improvement to finish second in her last start over five furlongs, 1.3L behind the winner. She battled all the way down to the wire that day and if showing the same determination here, she should be included in all bets.

Race 5.
ANGOLA MISS is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she had finished second in her last two runs prior to winning a short-head last time out over this mile journey. She jumped awkwardly that day which makes the victory that much more encouraging. She is drawn the widest of them all at gate nine, but nevertheless still looks to be the one that they all have to beat. TWINSPIER followed up his penultimate run victory with a second place finish over the same c&d next time out, just a head back from the winner. He was only run out of it late that day and from gate five, he could threaten the top pick. BOILING is a 7yr old mare who steps up from the seven furlongs of her last two starts, where she finished second in the latest, two lengths behind the winner. The form of that race has been franked and despite being drawn in gate eight, she should not be overlooked in this line-up.

Race 6.
ROCK ‘N’ SOL has consistent formlines to his credit and came wide into the straight before finishing third last time out over 1300M, just a neck back from the winner. He will have to negotiate the widest draw of them all in gate eleven, but he should be doing his best work late and is made the value bet on the day’s program. HIGHFALUTIN GAL is a 6yr old mare taking on boys. She was a tad disappointing when finishing eighth in her last outing over 1100M, but she was making good late progress in that race, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking. She has a much kinder draw five and she should give the males a good run for their money. SRINI returns from a 15 week rest and has not had a barrier trial. He does however have his first run for his new conditioner and if not too much in need of the outing, he should be right up there in the mix.

Race 7.
SHEZASHOOTINGSTAR is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory last time out over five furlongs. She finished strongly to eventually put nearly two lengths between herself and the opposition that day and from draw seven, she should put in another honest performance here. ROCK'N'ROLL BOBBY has his first run after a 15 week break, but has not had a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust. He drops in trip after being somewhat disappointing last time out over seven furlongs and could do better as a result. ROSAIRE is a 3yr old filly who has only had the two runs to date, but she showed the expected improvement to win over five furlongs at the second time of asking when returning from a 22 week rest. She is drawn wideish at gate eight, but she clearly has some ability and should not be easily discounted in this field.
