Neil Morrice: International Racing - Thursday 28 October 2020

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from Thursday's racing taking place at
Newton Abbot, Stratford, and Lingfield Park.

NEWTON ABBOT

Race 7: No1 - BUCKO’S BOY (Nap)
Trainer: Jamie Snowden - Jockey: Page Fuller

BUCKO’S BOY went all the way to Hexham to open his account earlier in the month, making it third time lucky in bumpers with a clear cut success. He gets on well with his pilot and is in the mood to follow-up. For the exacta, any support for newcomer Grandeur D’Ame might be worth heeding.

STRATFORD

Race 1: No8 - GO MILLIE GO (Nap)
Trainer: Stuart Edmunds - Jockey: Cieran Gethings

Several in this mares’ maiden hurdle have shown ability, notwithstanding bumper winner A Perfect Gift and pointers Gio’s Girl and Don’t Rightly Know. However, a safer option looks to be GO MILLIE GO for whom the door should soon open. She’s put in earning runs on three of her four outings for Edmunds and was meeting a smart foe in Wynn House at Bangor. She can now step up on that first run over jumps.

Race 3: No3 - DOUX PRETENDER
Trainer: Charles Pogson - Jockey: Cillin Leonard

DOUX PRETENDER skipped a similar race at Fakenham but should find this selling hurdle within his compass, having been acquired out of the bargain basement. If retaining even half of his old ability he would be too smart for his rivals, although Skeaping and Larch Hill also merit respect.

Race 7: No1 - SUMMIT LIKE HERBIE
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies - Jockey: San Twiston-Davies

After winning on his final start of last season just before lockdown, SUMMIT LIKE HERBIE returned with a promising effort at Ffos Las when third to Sizing At Midnight. That should have served the purpose of blowing away any cobwebs as the eight-year-old attempts to shrug-aside a welter burden.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 4: No2 - OH THIS IS US
Trainer: Richard Hannon - Jockey: Ryan Moore

Hannon appears hell-bent on capturing this Class 2 handicap and sends out three runners of whom OH THIS IS US looks the one to be on. The selection is up 4lb for his Chelmsford success when returning to today’s trip of seven furlongs but now has his confidence restored. He can follow-up at the main expense of Husain and Ghayloon.

Race 5: No2 - CLOAK OF SPIRITS (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Hannon - Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

To all intents and purposes this featured Fleur De Lys Stakes should be well within the reach of CLOAK OF SPIRITS who is napped. The 1,000 Guineas runner-up has rubbed shoulders with the best throughout the season, took out another Listed race two runs back, and ran a cracker when third to Nazeef in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes last time. As long as she handles the Polytrack surface, she should win.

Race 6: No13 - JACINTH
Trainer: William Haggas - Jockey: Tom Marquand

Although not blessed with the best of the draw, JACINTH can have the whip hand over her foes on this turning seven furlongs, and avenge a costly defeat here last time when she was too free. Her previous run when third to Alcohol Free at Newbury stands up to the closest inspection and makes her a winner waiting to happen.

Race 7: No2 - INDEFATIGABLE
Trainer: Paul Webber - Jockey: Jim Crowley

Cheltenham Festival winner INDEFATIGABLE wasn’t able to reappear in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot and now finds herself faced with a more straightforward task in this Listed race. Hat-trick seeker Sorrel and Irish challenger Elizabethofaragon provide stern opposition, but the selection is in great form for her first run since landing the Martin Pipe.
