Neil Morrice: UK Best Bets - Monday 12 October 2020

Neil Morrice:

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday's racing coming your way from Wolverhampton, Windsor, Musselburgh, and Yarmouth.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 3: No2 - ANNA OF LORRAINE
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute - Jockey: Hollie Doyle

ANNA OF LORRAINE can add to her good record here of a win and a second in as many visits. The well-related filly hasn’t been without her problems, exemplified when she ran a howler at Haydock, but given her much better form on the all-weather combined with her trainer’s decision to persevere with her, she can pick up further gains.

Race 7: No4 - MAIDEN CASTLE
Trainer: Henry Candy - Jockey: David Probert

MAIDEN CASTLE did not go unbacked when scoring at 12-1 here the other day, having been 25-1 in the morning. He did us a nice favour on what was a first visit to Dunstall Park, and with the confidence lift that provided is worth following to go in again.

Race 8: No7 - THE CINCINNATI KID (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Hannon - Jockey: Thore Hammer Hansen

THE CINCINNATO KID went up 3lb for rattling the crossbar on his latest start over course and distance earlier in the month and has a great chance to go one better. He has the same capable pilot in the saddle and will be hard to beat.

WINDSOR

Race 2: No4 - ADACE
Trainer: Mick Channon - Jockey: Charles Bishop

ADACE blew the start at Kempton last time, giving her a mountain to climb in the straight but also affording her a mark to contest nurseries. On handicap debut from a good draw, she can now show her true worth.

Race 7: No1 - HIGH COMMISSIONER
Trainer: Paul Cole - Jockey: Sean Levey

HIGH COMMISSIONER can give a pointer to the prospects of Maiden Castle at Wolverhampton later in the day. The chestnut finished second to that foe at the Dunstall Park course after meeting trouble in running. It was only his third run on the all-weather and signals that an overdue first career triumph is in the offing.

Race 8: No3 - MARS LANDING (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute - Jockey: Pat Dobbs

Back in maiden company after two solid earning runs in handicaps, MARS LANDING holds outstanding claims as the best bet on that card and can swoop to conquer for his top connections.

MUSSELBURGH

Race 2: No2 - AFTER JOHN
Trainer: Rebecca Bastiman - Jockey: Jamie Gormley

A horse with a lot of natural talent, AFTER JOHN, also has a mind of his own and comes with risks attached. He tried to pull himself up at Pontefract last time, only to make remarkable late progress to gain a mid-division finish in the race won by Penny Pot Lane. He’d shown what he can do on his previous outing at Redcar and could be worth chancing at likely big odds.

Race 7: No4 - NORTHERN SOCIETY (Nap)
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish - Jockey: Shane Gray

NORTHERN SOCIETY looked good value for her margin of victory over this course and distance a fortnight ago. Her admittedly overdue success came after four straight visits to the Edinburgh venue, and it’s doubtful that a 6lb hike will prevent a follow up.

Race 4: No1 - CURRENCY EXCHANGE
Trainer: William Haggas - Jockey: Tom Marquand

As the only winner in this novice, CURRENCY EXCHANGE has to be afforded abundant respect, even though it’s not easy shouldering penalties in such contests. The son of 2,000 Guineas hero Night Of Thunder has to give upwards of 6lb to his foes but was impressive when landing some good bets at Thirsk.

Race 6: No4 - PRAISED (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas - Jockey: Tom Marquand

The same trainer-jockey combination can strike with PRAISED who as an unexposed daughter of Pivotal is going to revel in the easy underfoot conditions and is the least exposed member of the 11-runner field. The way she finished off her race at Redcar last month indicates she’ll relish the step up to seven furlongs.
