Neil Morrice: UK Best Bets - Monday 26 October 2020

Neil Morrice:

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday's racing coming your way from AYR, Leicester, and Newcastle.

Race 2 No3 CADZAND (Nap)
Trainer: Dan Skelton - Jockey: Harry Skelton

CADZAND ran into the likes of smart rivals Son Of Camas and Sizable Sam in his two starts in bumpers at Newbury and Warwick after impressing in his only point-to-point. He’s a strong travelling horse that might have been given a bit too much to do on the latter occasion. He’s reported to have schooled well ahead of this debut over jumps, and can take the scalps of four other previous winners in the field.

Trainer: Dan Skelton - Jockey: Harry Skelton

The Skeltons haven’t made their customary whirlwind start to the campaign, but with their emphasis now on quality rather than quantity it would be no surprise to see them also connect with FREEZING POINT in the bumper. The four-year-old moved to the yard after scoring on his point debut and has shown abundant promise in his preparatory work for this.

Race 2 No1 ALDAARY (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas - Jockey: Jim Crowley

ALDAARY clocked an impressive time when booting up on debut at Yarmouth and looks an exciting prospect for his top connections. He is confidently expected to follow-up under a penalty in this novice stakes before going into winter quarters.

Trainer: Mark Loughnane - Jockey: Mr Cameron Hillhouse

With four seconds in his last six starts INNER CIRCLE deserves a change of luck, and can find it in this amateur riders’ handicap. The Choisir gelding is a very uncomplicated ride for an inexperienced pilot, and only needs to run up to the good form he’s shown in deep ground here recently to again get into the shake-up.

Trainer: Roger Varian - Jockey: David Egan

Perennial bridesmaid Model Guest has the best form in this maiden, but TROLL PENINSULA possesses the greater scope for improvement off just one outing so far. That came when he chased home Future King on the Newcastle all-weather, when looking as if the outing would do him the power of good. Easy to back that day, if it’s brought him on mentally he could have too many guns for his foes.

Race 5 No1 BRAVADO
Trainer: Mark Johnston - Jockey: Franny Norton

BRAVADO defied a market drift to deliver at the first time of asking at Wolverhampton where the son of Showcasing displayed a willing attitude to get the job done. He carries a penalty and should remain unbeaten at the expense of Fleetwood Pier, who himself showed promise when in the money on his only start, and will improve.

Trainer: Richard Whitaker - Jockey: William Carver

Pontefract specialist ROUND THE ISLAND has performed consistently well through the autumn, scoring a wide margin success at his favourite venue last time. He must now compete off a 4lb higher mark but looked to have at least that much in hand earlier in the month, and again has underfoot conditions in his favour.

Race 4 No5 MERITORIOUS (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden - Jockey: Rab Havlin

As the most experienced runner in the field MERITORIOUS a has a distinct edge and the son of Make Believe should prove very hard to beat in this novice stakes. He was beaten a country mile on debut in July, but when reappearing three months later on the Rowley course put up a much improved display to run Mystical Dawn to half a length. He achieved that on easy turf but should also act on this all-weather surface.
