Neil Morrice: UK Racing Best Bets - Sunday 11 October 2020

International Racing - Sunday 30 August 2020

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Sunday's racing coming your way from the Goodwood and Newton Abbot.

GOODWOOD

Race 4: No4 - BIMBLE (Each Way)
Trainer: Henry Candy - Jockey: George Wood

BIMBLE makes appeal at lengthy odds in this Listed fillies’ race even though these are much deeper waters than she’s been treading to date. A course and distance scorer here back in June, the daughter of Acclamation proved a costly failure when joint fourth in a handicap at Nottingham but is better than that.

Race 6: No5 - KING FRANKEL (Nap)
Trainer: Mark Johnston - Jockey: William Buick

Everything points to a massive run from KING FRANKEL who after finishing last on debut at Windsor showed his appreciation for a longer trip by chasing home Surprise Exhibit at this course. He’s slightly back on the distance ladder but with the testing conditions in his favour is going to be hard to beat, especially in view of how well that form has worked out.

Race 6: No4 - GOSHEN
Trainer: Gary Moore - Jockey: Hector Crouch

Putting a line through GOSHEN’s disappointing flop on return at Haydock is the way to go in this as the dual-purpose gelding drops back in trip. He was badly in need of that race and can bounce back on the way to starting a jumps campaign aimed at the Champion Hurdle next March.

NEWTON ABBOT

Race 1: No8 - THE MICK PRESTON (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies - Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

Getting involved in THE MICK PRESTON looks the way to go in the opening novices’ hurdle. He was an authoritative winner of his only bumper start and after working and schooling well ahead of this jumps debut can land the spoils on the way to better things.

Race 2: No9 - STRIKING A POSE
Trainer: Colin Tizzard - Jockey: Robbie Power

The Tizzards lost an exciting prospect when At Large was killed at Chepstow, but STRIKING A POSE can give them plenty to look forward to by taking out this second division of the novices’ hurdle. The Getaway gelding was in a different parish to his foes when landing his only point at Brocklesby Park, hence the big price paid to put him into his top stable.

Race 3: No1 - AL DANCER
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies - Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

With committed front runner Master Tommytucker sure to turn this intermediate chase into a fast run affair, things could be set up for AL DANCER to take advantage at the business end. The 2019 Betfair Hurdle winner finished fifth in the Arkle Challenge Trophy at Cheltenham and at his best would outclass his rivals. He looked in great heart stretching out on the Fibresand strip at Guiting Power and is fit for his first run in seven months.

Race 6: No10 - KILBREW BOY (Each Way)
Trainer: Ben Case - Jockey: Kielan Woods

KILBREW BOY usually needs a race or two to bring him to the boil and after running down the field at Fontwell and Uttoxeter should now be ready to raise his game. He’s retained the cheekpieces first equipped when he finished third in a very warm race at Kempton before lockdown, and at likely long odds is interesting.

Race 8: No6 - POZO EMERY
Trainer: Paul Nicholls - Jockey: Harry Cobden

Nicholls has made a super start with his bumper horses and it could be wise to let POZO EMERY do the talking for that trainer in the nightcap. He beat all but one in a warm point in Ireland and is by much sought after sire Le Havre. He’s been working great guns ahead of this debut under Rules.
