Race 6.

MACROURA made good late progress when finishing third last time out over 1100M, one and a half lengths behind the winner. She has only had the five runs to date, but did reel off a hat-trick in her first three outings, before disappointing in her fourth start and was immediately rested for 21 weeks. She returns here after having had the benefit of two barrier trials and from her handy draw four, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. AMERCEMENT returns from a lengthy 84 week break during which time she had throat surgery. The fact that her connections have brought her back to racing would suggest that they still feel that she has something to offer them. She is drawn one outside the top choice and on her encouraging barrier trial, she could be the biggest danger to the former. INTREPIDACIOUS made good improvement to win her last outing over six furlongs by 2.8L when returning from a 20 week absence. She has won two subsequent barrier trials since then and although draw wide in gate twelve, she should be involved in the finish.

Race 7.
DAWN PASSAGE has finished third in his last two starts and hit the front at the 220M mark before being run out of it late and ending up just under a length behind the winner last time out over 1500M. He has cracked pole position and will be looking to go two better today to end up I the winner’s box. PURPLE SECTOR has his hat-trick run after winning his last outing over nine furlongs by a neck. He drops in trip, but did win his penultimate run over a mile, so this should not be an issue. He jumps from gate five and looks a threat to the top pick. ROCK did not have the clearest of passages in the home straight when finishing third last time out over a mile, just 0.7L off the victor. He will have to negotiate a wide draw eleven, but nevertheless, he should be included in all bets.

Race 8.

BERDIBEK goes for his hat-trick after being a short-head winner of his last start over seven furlongs when returning from a lengthy 44 week break. He takes a hike in distance today, but did win his penultimate start over nine furlongs, so this should not present a problem. He is sure to put his pole position to good use. SOLDIER OF LOVE was slightly disappointing in a feature race last time out over seven furlongs, where he finished sixth, four and a half lengths behind the winner when returning from his 20 week break. He is drawn wide in gate ten, but if bouncing back to the form he showed when winning over 1500M three runs back, he should be respected in this line-up. ELABORATE appeared to enjoy the big drop in distance when winning last time out over seven furlongs when returning from a 17 week rest. He finished strongly that day for his head victory and seems likely to appreciate the extra ground on offer here.

Race 9.

PAPAL WARRIOR is seldom far off the action and stayed on well when finishing fourth in his latest run over 1500M, just under two lengths behind the winner. He only saw daylight at the 250M pole that day and did well to get as close to the victor as he did. He will have to overcome gate nine, but is likely to turn in another honest performance today. GREEK HERO returns from a 24 week break and two barrier trials. He looked a possible winner close to home before being overhauled in the dash down to the wire. From his kinder draw two, he should be right up there when they reach the line. MISTEED is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She showed marked improvement to win her last start over 1300M by a head, this despite jumping awkwardly. She is drawn one outside the latter and should give the males a good run for their money.

Race 5.

GOLWEN looked a possible winner before finishing third last time out over seven furlongs, just under a length and a half behind the winner. He has his peak run today after a 21 week break and from his mid-field draw seven, he could be the one to side with here. SWILLING is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She hit the front as she entering the straight before hanging on bravely to win her last outing over 1460M by one length. She has a handy gate four and looks to be the biggest danger to the top choice. ROCQUETTE is a 4yr old filly who did not get the clearest of passages in the straight before ending up in fifth place last time out over 1300M. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate fourteen, but she has her peak run here after returning from a 20 week absence and should be included in all bets.

Race 6.

With the one late scratching, the field has been reduced to just seven runners, but finding the winner is no easy task. The marginal top choice goes to EAGLEHAWK who followed up his penultimate run victory over this distance with a sixth place finish last time out over nine furlongs, six lengths behind the winner. He was chased up to join the frontrunners that day and then compounded in the straight. Ridden with more restraint, he could be the one to side with here. FOX BEAT and PECUNIARY INTEREST renew their rivalry today after finishing nineth and thirteenth respectively in their last start in a feature race over ten furlongs. The former finished two and a half lengths in front of the latter in that contest and as he now meets him on 2.5kgs better terms, that result is likely to be confirmed.

Race 7.

AZOUSTIC showed solid improvement to finish fourth in his last outing over seven furlongs, just over a length back from the victor. He overraced early, but still stayed on well in the latter stages. He jumps from gate two and gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time today. If these have the desired effect, he may prove to be difficult to topple in this line-up. SU WU was making good late progress to finish second in his last start over seven furlongs, just 0.7L behind the winner. The gelding has pulled gate five and should be right up there when the reach the wire. POWER ME UP won his maiden race last time out over a mile going away from the opposition in the closing stages. He takes on stronger here and faces a wide draw of twelve out of thirteen, but nonetheless, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 8.

COMMON PURPOSE finished fifth in his last start over 1010M, just under a length and a half back from the winner. He returns from a 19 week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, but he has his first run for his new trainer and if fully settled into his new surroundings, he should be a serious contender here. LOOK ONLY is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she has cracked pole position to aid her cause. She overraced in the middle stages before ending up in sixth place last time out over five furlongs, 1.4L behind the winner. She should not be lightly discarded here. KISS MY SWISS is a 5yr old mare who was immediately rested for 12 weeks after finishing eighth in her latest outing over five furlongs, beaten some seven and a half lengths. She returns here without having had a barrier trial, but if not too much in need of the run, she could fight out the finish here.

Race 4.

ASHTRAIN has his hat-trick run after winning his last start over five furlongs by some three and a half lengths, despite jumping awkwardly. He was returning from a lengthy 68 week break that day, but hit the front at the 150M mark and was never sighted after that. He has cracked pole position and could be the one to side with here. Although VIBRANT KNIGHT is recorded as finishing eighth in his last outing over six furlongs, he was just 3.2L back from the winner. He never really quickened in that run and seems likely to enjoy going over the shorter distance. He starts from a midfield gate seven and should be right up there when they hit the line. POWERSCOURT returns from a 24 week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial so his fitness will have to be taken on trust. He followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a third place finish next time out over the same distance, despite racing four wide. He will have to negotiate a wide draw thirteen, but he should be doing his best work late.

Race 5.

NEWTOWN BRAVEHEART has only had the two starts to date and showed the expected improvement to win by just over a length over six furlongs at the second time of asking. He finished strongly for that victory and clearly has some ability. From his handy draw two, he could be good enough to complete his double and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card. MATSUMOTO has had just the three starts, but he did win over 1170M on debut. He finished sixth when returning from an 18 week break last time out over five furlongs, more than seven lengths adrift of the winner. He faces draw eleven, but nevertheless should be respected in this line-up. REBEL ROMANCE is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She had not finished too far off the winner until ending up a distance last in her latest run over 2500M and was immediately rested and mover to a new stable. She returns here and is taking a big drop in distance, but may well do better as a result.

Race 6.

Today’s best bet, SHARLIE is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she goes for her hat-trick here after winning her last start over this same mile journey by a length. She finished powerfully that day to win going away from the field. She is drawn in gate seven and should give the boys a good run for their money. BOOGIE WOOGIE also as his hat-trick run after winning his last outing over a mile by nearly two and a half lengths. He took over the lead as the field entered the straight and then held off all challengers in the drive down to the wire. He jumps from gate three and looks to be the immediate danger to the top choice. POWER ME UP had finished second in his last two runs before striding out strongly to win his maiden race last time out over a mile by some four lengths. He takes on stronger today, but should be involved in the finish.

Race 7.

Two 4yr old and a 3yr old filly could dominate the finish to this race and complete the trifecta. TIDAL FORCE was a jump to wire winner of her last start over 1175M to lose her maiden tag. The manner in which she finished off her race that day would suggest that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking. From draw six, she should be right up there in the firing line. POST FREE was also a maiden race winner last time out, this time over today’s 1400M trip and by nearly a length and a half. She stayed on well in the dash down to the wire and from gate four, she could threaten the top pick. SALLY POPS is lightly raced, having had just the three starts to date. She showed good improvement to win by three and a half lengths last time out over 1300M when returning from a 16 week absence. She clearly needed the rest and although facing a wide draw eleven, she should be included in all bets.
