Race 5

URBINO has won three out of his last five runs and has finished second and third in the other two. He won his last start over 2300M by a neck, this after being bumped at the start. He recovered well to finish strongly that day and the form of that race has been franked. He will have to negotiate the widest draw of them all in gate eleven, but nevertheless he is made the value bet on the day’s card. WARP SPEED has finished second in his last two outings over nine furlongs, beaten just a half length in his latest run. He steps up in distance here and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to help his cause. His handy draw four will do him no harm. STAR OF MICHELIN has an even better gate two and followed up his penultimate run victory over a mile with a seventh place finish over ten furlongs next time out, just over three lengths off the winner. He will have an even greater 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 6

DESTINY'S OWN’S last three outings have been over this mile journey and he stayed on well in the closing stages to end up fifth in his latest start, four lengths adrift of the victor, despite being bumped at the start. He has cracked pole position and will have 3kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming appie. JACKPOT JAY is seldom far off the action and finished fifth last time out over 1300M, just under a length behind the winner. He made good late progress that day and from draw four and with 3kg claiming apprentice, Jaden Lloyd, the son of ex-SA champion jockey Jeff Lloyd in the irons, he is viewed as the biggest danger to the top choice. SEA RAIDER has made steady improvement in his last two starts, finishing sixth last time out over six furlongs, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. He made a mess of the start that day and does face the widest draw of gate eleven, but he is likely to be dropped out of the race in the early stages and then should be picking off the frontrunners in the drive down to the wire.

Race 7

With the four late scratchings in the race, two of which were fancied runners, the way may have been cleared for GARIBALDI to chalk up his third career victory. He had his consistency rewarded with a short-head win last time out over five furlongs. He went from jump to wire that day and has his peak run here after returning from a 19 week break. From gate two, he is made the best bet on the program. L'COSMO is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys. Although she is recorded as finishing ninth in her last outing over six furlongs, she was under four lengths behind the winner and did finish second in her penultimate start over the same distance, just under a length behind the victor that day and the form of that race has stood up well. She jumps from gate four and is seen as the immediate threat to the top choice. APOLLO PRINCE was bumped at the 200M mark before ending up in sixth place last time out over six furlongs, two and a half lengths adrift of the winner. He was returning from a lengthy 38 week absence that day and from his now adjusted gate eight, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

This race may turn out to be a clash between two ex-SA jockeys, Robbie Fradd on INDIAN DREAMER and Sean Cormack on DAULAT TAI PANAZIZ and the pair could secure the exacta. The former has consistent formlines to his name and finished strongly to end up in second place last time out over seven furlongs, just a length behind the winner. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and from gate five, he will be looking to make amends in this line-up. The latter finished well to win his last run over seven furlongs by a head suggest that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He has pulled pole position and it is encouraging that Cormack has kept faith in his mount. MOSSHIKI is seldom too far off the winner and finished sixth in his latest start over 1300M, beaten one and a half lengths. He is drawn one outside the latter and has his peak outing here after returning from a 28 week rest. Another honest performance from the colt can be expected.
