Race 3

WRITTEN BEAUTY is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys and returns from a 13 week break, but was a comfortable four length winner of her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. Her record of five starts for four wins and a second place finish on debut is impressive. As such, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. SPACEBOY has cracked pole position and is seldom far off the action. He is a speedy sort who was only outrun close to home when finishing fourth last time out over six furlongs, just over a length off the winner. He may battle to topple the top choice, but he could complete the exacta. ZANIAH is a 5yr old mare who returns from a slightly longer 14 absence, but she did finish third in her only barrier trial to prove her fitness. She is drawn one outside the latter and may prove to be the best of the balance of the field.

Race 6

OLE KIRK has his hat-trick attempt after he won his last start over a mile by just under a half length, this despite being held up at the 800M mark. He drops in distance today, but did finish second over this c&d three runs back, so this should not be an issue. He returns from a 17 week break, but finished fourth in his only barrier trial and from gate six, he should be right up there when they hit the wire. DAME GISELLE is a 3yr old filly taking on males and returns from an 18 week rest. She has however finished third in both her barrier trials. She on the other hand missed out on her hat-trick when stepping up to the mile last time out, finishing fourth, 4.6L adrift of the winner. She did however overraced in the early and middle stages of that contest and the effort is best ignored. She will have to negotiate gate nine, but should give the boys a good run for their money. THE BOPPER followed up his penultimate run victory over this c&d with a staying on fourth place finish next time out over 1100M, four lengths behind the winner, when returning from a 12 week rest. He overraced in the middle stages of that outing and did well to finish as close to the winner as he did.

Race 8

ALL TIME LEGEND finished strongly when narrowly missing out on converting his hat-trick by finishing third last time out over this c&d, just under a half length back from the winner. He faces the widest draw of them all in gate ten, but given his style of running he should be dropped out of the race in the early stages and then start chasing down the frontrunner over the latter stages of the contest. MOUNT POPA was an impressive two and a half length winner last time out over ten furlongs and was immediately rested for a lengthy 33 weeks. He has his first outing here after having had one barrier trial and whilst taking a big drop in distance, he should be respected in this line-up. From gate six, he should not be lightly overlooked. SHARED AMBITION also takes a big slide in trip after finishing seventh in his last outing over thirteen furlongs, just under five lengths back from the victor. He returns from a 13 week absence, but has had two barrier trials. He is drawn one outside the latter and should be included in all bets.

Race 9

Today’s value bet, ZING is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she won her penultimate start over this c&d and then went on to finish sixth next time out over the same c&d, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. She finished well that day and the form of that race has been franked. She is drawn in gate five and gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time today. If theses have the desired effect, she should be right up there in the firing line. BLAZE A TRAIL has even better pole position and just missed out on his hat-trick when dropping down in trip to 1300M last time out, finishing just under a length behind the winner over 1300M when returning from a 28 week absence. He returns to the mile journey today, over which distance he won his penultimate start and should do better as a result. DERBARI has consistent formlines to his name and was hampered shortly after the start before finishing second in his last outing over seven furlongs, 0.8L behind the winner. He will have to overcome draw nine, but should be involved in the finish here.

Race 4

MIRROR MODEL made solid improvement to win her last start over a mile by 2.8L and the form of that race has stood up well. She returns from a 20week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing second in both of them. From her hand-drawn 2, she looks to be the one to side with here. ALL THAT SASS disappointing last time out when finishing fourteenth last time over six furlongs, 10.6L back from the winner. She has had just five starts to date and has finished third on three occasions. She has cracked pole position and will be hoping to put that last effort firmly behind her. REELCLASS Had her consistency rewarded when winning her maiden race by 1.2L last time out over this c&d despite coming wide into the home straight. She hit the front at the 200m mark and then head off all challenges over the closing stages. With the two late scratchings, she now jumps from gate 6 and should be included in all bets.

Race 5

DUCHESS MARIZZA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys. She had finished third in her two runs prior to ending up in fourth spot last time out over this mile trip, one length behind the winner She came three wide into the home straight that day and should just about have won the race. She jumps from 3 draw and should give the males a good run for their money. VAN GOGH followed up his penultimate run victory over 1100M with a third place finish next time out over seven furlongs, just under two length behind the winner. He was making good late progress that day suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He will need to negotiate gate nine, but he should be doing his best work late. ITA Is a 3yr old filly who also won her penultimate start, but in her case, over 1500M. She then finished second next time out over a mile, 1.3L adrift of the victor. She will have to deal with a wide draw 12 out of 13, but will have ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, so she will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 6

Nothing went the way of today’s value bet, SOLVA when he finished eleventh last time out over 1300M, four and a half lengths behind the winner. He jumps awkwardly, came wide into the home straight and was reported to have been cut into that day. The gelding will be hoping to bounce back to his better form and gets the services of Keagan Lathan and the added advantages of pole position. ZARZOU finished ninth last time out over a mile, five and a half lengths back from the winner, but did win his penultimate outing over this seven-furlong journey by a neck. He drops back to what appears to be a more suitable distance and from draw seven he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. OVERTHINK Is drawn one outside the latter and return from a sixteen-week rest, but did finish second in his only barrier trial to prove his fitness. He also won his penultimate start over 2100M and then finished sixth in his last start over ten furlongs, beaten three and a half lengths. He takes a big drop in trip, but he should be closing in on the frontrunner in the latter stages of the race.

Race 7

With the late scratching of one of her main rivals, the way may have been cleared for PRINCESS AMIRA to win her maiden race at the second time of asking. She is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she finished third on debut over 1350M, just 1.3L behind the winner, despite racing three wide. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she should be a big runner here and as such, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s program, despite having gate nine. KING OF HEARTS showed marked improvement when finishing second in his latest outing over seven furlongs, beaten just a short head. He had to weave his way between runners in the home straight and then had his objection against the winner overruled in the boardroom. He is drawn one outside the top pick and looks to be his immediate danger. RONDINO did not get the clearest passage over the latter stages on debut to end up in third place over this c&d, two lengths behind the winner. He was friendless in the betting markets that day suggesting that his connections were not confident that he could win first time out. Keagan Latham is engaged, who will be hope to round off a profitable day riding.
