Racing this Wednesday sees an enticing nine race programme at Happy Valley Racecourse with a host of top quality racing on offer! The top bet, value bet, and Bi-pot should be followed closely.

RACE 1

FORTUNE PATROL produced a fair effort last time despite being held up for a clear run between the 400-200m mark. SHINEALOT wasn’t disgraced last time out over further. He may be suited to the drop in distance and can make his presence felt in this opening contest. THE JOY OF GIVING produced a career best effort last time. If confirming that effort then he can run into the money. 

RACE 2

KING DRAGON backed up his favourite status last time out. That win would have boosted his confidence and it will be no surprise to see him make it quick back-to-back wins. RIGHT HONOURABLE finished runner-up in his last start after a two-month layoff. He will strip a much fitter horse and can pose a threat to the top selection. KIRAM finished 0.8 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights which may be enough to turn the tables.

RACE 3

SUNSHINE WARRIOR produced a fair effort last time. The manner in which he finished off his last race when finding a clear run at the 150m suggests that another win is the tank. The booking of Moreira to ride is significant and he definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. THE ROCK found no challengers last time when winning under Badel. A repeat of that effort could see him make it back-to-back wins. STAR SHINE is coming along the right way. He finished well last time under Ho and should be right there at the business end.

RACE 4

FLYING GENIUS and SAUL’S SPECIAL weren’t separated by much last time out. The pair meet each other on the same weight terms and look set to fight out the finish of this contest. JAZZ STEED has an explosive finish and will benefit from a hot pace. He is drawn pole, shoulders a light weight and will be doing his best work in the closing stages.

RACE 5

MY MY MY and HARMONY FIRE weren’t separated by much on debut. With the expected natural improvement on offer, the pair should prove difficult to catch. HARMONY FIRE is drawn wide and represents a narrow first selection. VIVA CHEF was only beaten by 0.6 lengths last time. He gets a young, talented rider in the saddle and could be the one to cause an upset.

RACE 6

GRATEFUL HEART is the best bet on the card. He performs very well for Purton and is in search of a hat-trick of wins. He is best suited to racing at Happy Valley and on form looks seriously difficult to oppose. BEAUTY APPLAUSE is another who has won his last two outings. Both those wins were recorded at Sha Tin and the slight concern is that he may be better suited to that track. EXPLOSIVE WITNESS likes to produce his run from off the pace. He got going too late last time and if his rider can get him into the race a little earlier then he will be doing his best work in the closing stages.

RACE 7

HAPPY PROFIT was beaten by the narrowest of margins last time out. He is drawn wide but will get all the necessary assistance with Purton in the saddle. MUDITA made vast progress in his second outing when only beaten a length at the wire. He is an unexposed sort and further natural improvement could win this contest. DAILY BEAUTY is drawn pole and backed up his favourite status last time. Both of his wins have come on this course and he will have plenty of followers.

RACE 8

KURPANY is in search of back-to-back wins. He is still ahead of the handicapper at this stage of his career and despite taking on a competitive field, should take a power of beating. HINCHINLOVE won his last start in fine style. The manner in which he finished off the race on that occasion suggests there is another win in the tank. FALCON TURBO showed encouraging signs in his last start. He was reported to be cut into which makes the effort that much more promising. If putting his best foot forward then he can run into the money.

RACE 9

TASHIDELEK raced wide without cover last time and weakened late under Badel. His form prior to that run is attractive and he will be looking to get back to winning ways. He may have needed a small break and if returning fit, should prove hard to beat in the lucky last. CINQUANTE CHIC showed signs of a form return last time. He raced wide, hit the front at the 200m and was only caught in the latter stages. With better luck in running he can pose a threat to the top selection. INCANTO PREPARED steps up into Class 3 and if up to the task, can run into the money.
