England will be hoping their new-found form in Asia holds long enough for them to force their way into the World Test Championship final.

India vs England | Second Test | Saturday 13 February - Wednesday 17 February 2021 | M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai | 06:00

To Win Match
India 13/20
Draw 4/1
England 27/10

India
The home side might well be bolstered by the return of limited numbers of fans for the second Test of the series which will, like the first, be played in Chennai.

Virat Kohli finds himself under pressure as skipper with his team having now lost four Tests in a row under his captaincy including two in New Zealand and the first of the series in Australia, which India came back to win 2-1 under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane.

Spinner Shahbaz Nadeem looks likely to make way after he leaked 167 runs of England's mammoth first-innings total of 578 and was criticised for failing to build pressure.

India have been forced to use their incredible depth as they attempt to get a full season in, but it seems to have put the team balance off-kilter and critically has allowed England to see the cracks.

England
England will have to make some changes with wicketkeeper Jos Buttler sent home for rest and Ben Foakes returning to the Test lineup to replace him.

Joe Root remains the clear and present dangerman after his incredible run of form in Asia and could be on his way to leading England to a famous series win if he can keep it all together.

James Anderson was impressive in the first Test but still looks likely to be rested with England committed to a policy of rotating their veteran quicks. Stuart Broad is all set to replace Anderson.

Dom Bess and Jack Leach should continue to front England's spin challenge having outdone the hosts' tweakers in the first outing by some distance.

Verdict: India 13/20
India should power back with a big response.
