Race 6.

FIERY WATER followed up his penultimate run victory with a third place finish next time out over seven furlongs, just over a length and a half behind the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and the form of that race has stood up well. He returns from a 24 week break, but did finish second in his only barrier trial to prove his fitness. From gate six, he looks to be the one to side with here. Two 5yr old mare could chase him home, with the slight preference going to CITY CIRCLE who stayed on well when ending up in fourth place last time out over this c&d, just under three lengths back from the winner. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate nine, but she should be doing her best work late. Although BLANKENBERGE is recorded as finishing seventh last time out over 1100M, she was just over two and a half lengths adrift of the victor and the form of that race has been franked. She has her first run since a 20 week rest and has not had the benefit of barrier trial, but the engaging of WA champion jockey, William Pike could suggest that the connections believe that she is ready to win. She gets the blinkers re-fitted today and jumping from draw five, she should be included in all bets.

Race 7.

GREAT WATERS drops in trip after finishing seventh last time out over eleven furlongs, but three runners from that race have subsequently won, so that form is solid. He returns from a 15 week absence and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his well-being will have to be taken on trust, but whilst he gets a wideish gate seven, he will get 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. DARING SOLEIL is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she won her penultimate start over seven furlongs, before finishing nineth next time out over a mile, six and a half lengths behind the winner. She has a handy draw three and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here. STREET FAIR is drawn one outside the latter and finished well to fill fifth spot in his latest outing over seven furlongs, 5.3L behind the winner when returning from a 23 week break. He would have come on with that run under his belt and should not be lightly dismissed in this line-up.

Race 8.

KAPTAIN KAOS has only had the four runs to date and has only finished out of the top three places once. He put two lengths between himself and the opposition when winning last time out over six furlongs and with the further natural improvement that can be expected, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. He is sure to put the added advantage of his pole position to good use. AMERICAN QUEEN is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she has made steady improvement in her last three starts, culminating with a win last time out over 1100M by just under a length. She came three wide into the straight that day and was hanging over the latter stages of the contest, so that victory was encouraging. She jumps from gate five and should give the boys a good run for their money. PREVAILING WINDS is drawn one outside the latter and had finished second in his last two runs prior to finishing sixth last time out over six furlongs, 3.7L adrift of the victor. The blinkers are re-fitted for today’s outing and he will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice, so he should be involved in the finish.

Race 9.

Today’s value bet, CREZEE made solid improvement to win his maiden race by some two and a half lengths last time out when stepping up to the ten furlong journey. He was having in over the latter stages that day, so the victory was full of merit. He jumps from draw five and should be right up there in the firing line once again. REVEUSE has cracked pole position and has consistent formlines to his credit having finished third in his last three runs, the latest over ten furlongs when just one length behind the winner. He seems sure to turn in another honest performance today. FINAL CHILL on the other hand will have to negotiate a wide gate fourteen, but he made good late progress when ending up in third spot in his last start over twelve furlongs at this track, 3.3L adrift of the victor. He is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages of the race and then start picking off the frontrunner over the closing stages of the contest.
