Race 4.

CASINO KID is seldom far off the action and had to be steadied when denied a run in the home straight before finishing fourth last time out over seven furlongs, just two lengths behind the winner and should have finished closer to the victor as a result. From draw five and with better luck in running today, he looks to be the one to side with here. ONE STAR SHINING has been getting closer to the winner in his last three runs, the latest when second over seven furlongs, 3.8L back from the winner. He made good late progress that day and although having to negotiate gate nine, he should be right up there when they hit the line. SONG ONE followed up his penultimate run victory with a third place finish next time out over 1700M, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner. He overraced in the early stages that day and the drop in trip should be to his liking. His handy draw two will do him no harm.

Race 5.

Although RICKY BOBBY is recorded as finishing fourth last time out over a mile, he was just over one length adrift of the winner and three runners from that race have subsequently won. He faces a wide draw ten and returns from a 26 week break without the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust, but nevertheless, he should be right up there in the firing line. A 4yr old and a 3yr old filly could chase him home. PARADIA has her first run since a slightly longer 27 week absence, but has had a barrier trial. She came wide into the straight in her last outing when ending up in third place over a mile, just over three lengths back from the winner, but the form of that race has been franked. She has a kinder draw five and should prove a big runner in this lie-up. LOZENGER faces gate eight and has only had the one run, finishing eighth over 1300M, 4.7L back of the winner. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she should be included in all bets.

Race 6.

O'TARTAN LASS is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she goes for her hat-trick here after wins over a mile and the latest over six furlongs by over three lengths, when returning from a 23 week break. She is clearly a versatile sort, so the step up in distance should not be an issue. She gets a cozy draw two and will have ex-SA jockey Brandon Lerena in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. As such, she is made the best bet on the card. FEARLESS MILA is a 5yr old mare who completed her trio of victories last time out over a mile by two lengths. She has pulled gate six and will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. She looks to be the immediate danger to the top choice. SPILIA won his penultimate start over six furlongs and the stayed on well to finish third in his latest outing over this trip, 1.3L back from the winner. He is drawn one inside the latter and has his peak run after returning from a 22 week rest.

Race 7.

The day’s value bet, THE DROVER has consistent formlines to his name, having finished second in his last two runs, the latest when two lengths behind the winner over 1100M, this despite hanging out over the latter stages. He has a wideish draw eight, but he should nevertheless put in another honest performance and will be hoping to go one better today. BLACK SUNRISE is drawn one inside the top pick and has steady form to his credit, having finished sixth last time out over seven furlongs, just over two lengths off the winner. He likes to race up with the pace and should be involved in the finish. STELLAR BLAZE is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she has posted a second and two third place finishes in her last three runs, the latest over six furlongs where she was just over a length back from the winner. She will have to overcome a wide draw fifteen, but she is likely to be dopped out of it in the early stages and then start picking off the frontrunners over the closing stages of the contest.
