Spurs have appointed the former Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United mentor as their new coach.

The well travelled Middendorp replaced Shaun Bartlett after the ex-Amakhosi striker failed to get a top flight win in seven games as he lost all of them.

Moroka Swallows have had a good start to the season having only lost twice in their opening 10 games. A win against Amakhosi will see them narrow the gap between them and log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. Steve Komphela is familiar with the Naturena side, but will that count for something on the day? The last meeting between the two ended in a 2-1 victory for the Dube Birds and it will be interesting to see if they can shock Chiefs again.

The Glamour Boys on the other hand will be aiming to avoid back-to-back defeats after losing the Soweto derby. This is a chance for them to redeem themselves and collect the much-needed three points that will take them to the top half of the table. However, a win against Swallows is easier said than done.

Golden Arrows have a chance to maintain the pressure on Mamelodi Sundowns when they take on Cape Town City at Mpumalanga Stadium – what has turned into their hunting ground basically.

Polokwane City have drawn their last 4 games… but this could change as they visit another struggling side in TS Galaxy on Saturday. The Rockets have conceded 7 goals in their last 3 league matches.

AmaZulu could break into the top-5 with a win over Stellenbosch on Saturday. Pablo Martins’ men have not lost in their last 5 games (all competitions).

Royal AM and Cape Town Spurs clash in this bottom-of-the-table encounter with very high stakes. Both sides have recorded one win each in their last 5 games, and another three points here would do them a world of good.
