The two teams went head-to-head in a thrilling DSTV Premiership match-up, in which Sundowns took the 3-0 win.

This is Mamelodi Sundowns’ 11th win from 11 games to extend their PSL record. They move eight points clear at the summit with three games in hand while Spurs are 12 points from safety.

Coach Rulani sang his side’s praises for their hard work and sterling job on the field.

“I still need to watch the game. I have made a lot of wrong judgements on the performances last season… for example, I would get carried away by the score line and I would give an impression and then when I watch the game at home, I’m like my goodness, I’m not sure I was 100% accurate. So, I try not to give judgment based on the 90 minutes live.

“However, I’m proud of this group of players for their efforts and their response because I was quite critical with them about the performance and as a team. I was also quite critical in the last couple of performances, but today they did very well. We dominated the ball, we dominated the pitch, we had very good energy. Structurally, I think in certain moments, we were very good, and we changed things, like when we had Bongani Zungu we played a bit different to when we had Grant and others.” said coach Rulani.

He added that he was happy that even with the rotation, the team still performed well, and they gave the opposition zero chances.

“This is the standard that we have to keep, we should have no compromises so I’m happy there are certain things that we’ve set as expectations and we shouldn’t get carried away, we should stay humble.” said Coach Rulani.
