According to the latest Carling Knockout leaderboard, Kaiser Chiefs goalkeeper has been replaced in the starting XI by Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Zoey Monyepao.
Khune’s suspension at Kaizer Chiefs seems to have spread beyond the team, as he seems to be getting replaced by a teenager in the Carling Knockout All-Star match. Monyepao, who is also the son of artist DJ Cleo, has managed to work his way into the starting XI, replacing Khune with a whopping 28 897 votes so far.
Khune had initially accumulated the second most votes, sitting at 34 445 (at the time of counting), behind leader Kermit Erasmus who has accumulated 38 349 votes as per the latest votes.
Stellenbosch, the newly-crowned Carling Knockout champions will take on the Carling All-Star team, which will be selected by fans, on 6 January at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
According to Carling Black Label Brand director Arne Rust, there have been more the 2.5 million votes for that team and with just over two weeks to go before the match which will feature the Calring Knockout winner Stellenbosch FC, there might be a few more surprises in the line-up.
