Hamilton Best Bets

Race 1 – No 2 ONE BITE
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish
Jockey: Tom Eaves

Having obtained a handicap mark courtesy of a paper thin victory over five furlongs here, ONE BITE can keep up the good work on his nursery debut. The selection found a nice change of gear to thwart the useful Mia Diva that day and should prove equally as effective over this longer trip.

Race 6 – No 6 CLIFF BAY
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish
Jockey: Shane Gray

CLIFF BAY posted a first career win on this track and two subsequent defeats saw the 5yo firmly in the money. Patiently ridden in the latest of those at Ayr, he travelled up looking likely to win but ultimately was worried out of it by Kodimoor. The key here is that he has an extra quarter mile to cover, which looks something he wants.

Doncaster Best Bet
Neil Morrice brings you his Best Bet for the turf card at Doncaster on Saturday, August 3rd
Race 7 – No 2 TIMETODOCK
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: Duran Fentiman
The blinkered TIMETODOCK attracted solid support on his latest start at Catterick but met with interference just as he was making his challenge. He was beaten four lengths by Tomily but would have finished closer. Given the rub of the green here, this consistent sprinter can make amends.
Newmarket Best Bet

Race 7 – No 2 EULA VARNER
Trainer: Henry Candy
Jockey: Charles Bishop
With little mileage on the clock there’s every chance that EULA VARNER can find further improvement and maintain her admirable consistency. The step up to a mile looks a good move considering the way she put in her best work at the finish when a length runner-up to Gentlewoman over seven furlongs at Leicester last month.
Thirsk Best Bet
Race 5 – No 14 BROTHER McGONAGALL
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: C J McGovern
Easterby is three-handed in this competetive Thirsk Hunt Cup but BROTHER McGONAGALL should represent value and can rediscover his best form after being in the wilderness since his last win. Forcing tactics were employed last time at Pontefract but he’s happier being ridden for a finish.
