Race 7

SHEZANALISTER missed out on her quartet after victories over 1100M, 1000M and 1200M when finishing sixth last time out back over 1100M, six lengths behind the winner, this after showing plenty of toe. She returns from a 19 week break, bur has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing fourth in the latest. She gets a handy draw two and the services of non-claiming apprentice, Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey, Jeff Lloyd to aid her cause and is made the value bet on the day’s card.

WILD BOTANICA struck the front at the 300M mark and was only run out of it late when finishing third last time out over 1100M, just under a length back from the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She faces a wide gate nine, but nevertheless she should be right up there when they hit the line.

MOLLY NAILS won over 1250M three runs back, finished fifth in her penultimate start over 1200M and then third in her latest outing when returning to 1250M, just a half length behind the winner, but she was bumped shortly after the start that day and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 250M mark, before finishing off her race well. The mare is drawn one inside the latter and will have her peak run after returning from a 21 week break.

Race 8

The day’s best bet, IKNOWASTAR has consistent formlines to his name and raced just behind the frontrunners and then took over at the top of the home straight, before being grabbed late to end up in second place in his latest outing over 1600M, just 0.8L back from the victor and on that effort, the drop in distance should be to his liking. The gelding has pulled gate five and could provide a quick double in the Jackpot for trainer Bjorn Baker.

KING OF THE CASTLE is seldom far off the action and although recorded as finishing fifth last time out over 1620M, he was just under two lengths back from the winner, this after being slow away and coming four wide into the home straight. The gelding is drawn one inside the top pick and could be his biggest danger.

TAMERLANE had solid form prior to finishing a disappointing eighth last time out over 1400M, 5.3L off the winner, but he did not handle the heavy going that day, so that effort is best ignored. He now has his peak run after returning from a 16 week rest and from his handy draw two and with Zac Lloyd in the irons, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 9

CONTEMPORARY goes for his hat-trick after victories over 1200M and the latest over 1100M by one and a half lengths, when returning from an 18 week break and has finished third in a subsequent barrier trial. He delivered a powerful finish from some way back in that event to win going away and from gate seven, the trio is very much on the cards to give jockey Nash Rawiller a quick double.

DISNECK has cracked pole position and has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when second over 1100M, 0.8L behind the winner, but it should be noted that he was bumped at the start, finding himself towards the rear of the field, before making good late progress over the latter stages.

ELSON BOY has chalked up six victories on the trot, the latest over 1300M by 1.8L when going from jump to wire. The gelding has pulled gate fine and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.

Race 10

PURE ALPHA has had four runs to date, recording two wins and two second place finishers, the latest victory coming over 1400M by 1.3L. He had to be held up at the 200M pole, but finished strongly when switched for a clear run. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw fourteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy. He will also be having his peak run after returning from an 18 week spell and will be hoping to notch up a quick double.

RHAPSODY CHIC has his hat-trick run after wins over 1200M and the latest over 1300M by 1.3L. He kicked clear of the field at the 300M mark on that occasion and then held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. From his gate seven, he is a big runner here.

COOL JAKEY went from gun to tape to win his lasts start over 1300M by a short-head. The gelding has pulled gate seven and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and could prove hard to reel in over the latter stages.
