Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: ROCK MY SOUL(8)
Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

The red-hot Ramsden yard holds a really strong hand in this opening event with riding engagements indicating that ROCK SOUL is the stable’s preference. The Twice Over colt showed expected improvement when he stayed on for a good 3rd over six furlongs in a competitive line-up two weeks ago. He has his first try around the turn from a slightly awkward draw today but should love the extra furlong and the long run-in. The bay should have lots more progress in him.

TOP BET
Race 3: OVAL OFFICE(3)
Jockey: Sihle CELE – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

OVAL OFFICE has turned his career around since racing on this circuit and the well-bred gelding had another eye-catching performance over a mile recently. He ran on again at the finish for a close 3rd in a competitive line-up and that effort certainly indicated that he is searching for more ground. His top class conditioner has obliged and the Sail From Seattle gelding will love every bit of today’s ten furlongs. Trainer Crawford’s charge has drawn well and he should go very close.

Race 7: I LIVED(2)
Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

The three-year-old speedster I LIVED was super-impressive when she shed her maiden tag in facile fashion over this c & d last month. She didn’t beat much but is extremely well-related and clearly, has plenty of progress in her. The daughter of Western Winter should prove equal to her stiff task with a big mass on her handicap debut.

Race 9: MISS CARRERA(1)

Jockey: Corne ORFFER – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

There are many form contenders in this open final event, the formline of which could be worth following. That said, the top selection MISS CARRERA has much in her favour and she could prove tough to beat from her inside draw. She fought out a thrilling three-way tussle over this c & d recently and should continue to progress.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: MANGROVE(8)

Jockey: Grant BEHR – Trainer: Greg ENNION

The improving MANGROVE is the only natural pacesetter in this tricky handicap featuring some useful types and he can cause the upset. The well-related son of Ideal World has shown decent potential and he quickened smartly for his maiden victory over ten furlongs last month. This shorter trip will be right up his alley and more importantly, he has finally cracked a good draw. The three-year-old bay gelding could prove to be better than his current rating. Of course, dictating terms will certainly aid his cause.
