Wayne Arendse feels that George Maluleka should stay at Mamelodi Sundowns and continue to fight for his place.

The 33-year-old midfielder has played just twice all season for the Brazilians.

Last term he made 14 appearances after his switch from rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

Arendse played over 150 times for Sundowns and admits that Maluleka is in a tough situation as he would want to get regular game-time at his age.

He told KickOff: “At the end of the day it’s up to the player himself, it’s how he feels.

“If he feels he stands a chance especially with the hectic schedule Sundowns have; they have Champions League, they need to finish the league, there’s Nedbank Cup coming up as well.

“So I’m sure he will get his opportunity, if he feels he has to fight for his position I’m 100% behind him. He knows what he’s worth and he knows where he is at.

“I think he should stay it out because with the schedule at Sundowns I’m sure he’s going to see more games. The coach is gonna have to play all his players.”

Arendse added: “It’s all up to him just to showcase what he’s got and he should back it. At the end of the day it’s what the player feels and how he feels it.”
