Orlando Pirates midfielder Goodman Mosele has welcomed the fact that the new head coach Jose Riveiro wants the side to play attacking football.
Riveiro was appointed head coach with Mandla Ncikazi being demoted to an assistant coach role last month. Mosele didn’t play regularly at first but became a key cog in the midfield in the second half of the season as a deep-lying midfielder, contributing three goals and one assist.
The 22-year-old, joined Pirates at the beginning of last season after winning the Young Player of the Season award at Baroka FC, is confident the Buccaneers will be a stronger side this season.
“The good thing is that we have the same objective now as a team, the coach wants results, and he’s someone who likes attacking football. He likes his team to play on the front foot and defend as a unit.
“With the quality we have at the team, I’m confident that in the next season, we will see a different Orlando Pirates,” said a confident Mosele at Bucs’ official jersey launch on Thursday.
Mosele then opened up on how it was settling in at the club.
“My first season at Pirates was good, but it was tough initially because Baroka was the only professional team I played for, and I didn’t know many people. I only knew Collins Makgaka when I arrived here, but I adapted and started playing more,” he said.
Pirates kick off their DStv Premiership campaign against Swallows FC in a Soweto Derby on August 6.
