Comrades 2013: Hollywood Water Station
Comrades 2013 took place on Sunday the 2nd of June, with the up-run starting at Durban City Hall, and ending at The Oval in Pietermaritzburg. The athletes would be greeted by an incredible sea of purple once they reached the downhill at water station number 8 in Pinetown (18km into the race) as 330 Hollywood team members provided water and encouragement to all the runners. Starting as early as 1.30am to set up, the Hollywood team arrived in their droves to make sure that the runners had the greatest amount of support as possible. Energade, Pepsi and water were served to the runners, while our first aid ladies were on call to provide rub downs for any weary runners! The last runner passed us 8.45am, and after a thorough and quick clean up, the team got stuck into a superb breakfast. Hats off must go to every team member involved, especially the team leader Shantal who has carried on the superb work for the 4th year in a row! See you all next year, when Hollywood returns even bigger and better!
Comrades 2012 – Looking Back at the Purple Train!
With Comrades 2013 just around the corner on the 2nd of June, we thought we would give all an insight into the awesome support that was provided by the team from Hollywoodbets. Our water station based just outside Cato Ridge, consisted of over 220 team members from Hollywoodbets, Winning Form, Racing Distribution and other friends and family. The team had started making their way to the meeting points from as early as 2am, with our first runners only coming through just after 7am. However, coffee, muffins and a cracking breakfast kept the team’s energy levels up, as well as the crazy dance tunes supplied by our awesome DJs. Anyone who ran the Comrades would have struggled to miss the incredible purple train, that supported the runners like true champions. We will be back this year, this time with our location in Pinetown. This is by far the best team building event of the year, and one that brings the team members closer than ever.

With all the hours of training, early morning wake ups, and vigorous discipline, Comrades 2012 finally gets underway this Sunday! Although we will not be offering betting this year, we will be running a monster water stand at this year’s race! This will be Hollywood’s third year in participating at the race, and we will have over 250 volunteers supporting our runners this year!
