Dolphins toil with the ball in PMB

Rob Frylinck appeals successfully for the wicket of World Sports Betting Cape Cobras captain Pieter Malan on day three of their CSA 4-Day Domestic Series match at the Pietermaritzburg Oval on Wednesday.

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins were made to work hard for their wickets against the World Sports Betting Cape Cobras at the Pietermaritzburg Oval on day three of their CSA 4-Day Domestic Series match, with the visitors finishing the day level with the Dolphins’ first innings score for the loss of three wickets.

The Dolphins declared their innings closed overnight following a truncated day on Tuesday where weather played a significant role. With a 325 run deficit the Dolphins would have been happy with their start when Cobras captain Pieter Malan was dismissed by Rob Frylinck for just five.

The Cobras then took control and Pieter’s brother Janneman and Matthew Kleinveldt dominated for the majority of the day.

The Dolphins had to wait 61 overs before they broke through again. Smangaliso Nhlebela picked up the wicket of Malan for 118 with the score on 233. The pair had put on 221 runs for the second wicket.

Jason Smith was at the crease with Kleinveldt nine overs before he fell for 14, bowled by Andile Phehlukwayo.

Kyle Verreynne and Kleinveldt then took the visitors to the close where the wiped off the rest of the deficit as Kleinveldt finished 137 not out and Verreynne was 31 not out at the close.

Thursday is the fourth and final day of the clash as the Dolphins will hope to pick up wickets early to try and push for a result.
