Subrayen’s efforts with the ball helped the Dolphins bowl Province out for 225 in their second innings to leave them 242 runs to win the match.

The visitors started day three on 65 for four with a lead of 81 runs and the pair of Jonathan Bird and George Linde continued to increase their lead through the morning session.

The Dolphins eventually struck when Bird became Subrayen’s fourth victim of the innings, caught by Daryn Dupavillon for 64.

Subrayen then wrapped up another first-class five-for when he took a smart one-handed catch to dismiss Mihali Mpongwana off his own bowling for a duck. Western Province were 128 for six at the loss of that wicket.

56 runs later and the Dolphins struck again, Linde was trapped in front by Subrayen for 61. A run later and Okuhle Cele got his first wicket of the innings when he had Kyle Simmonds caught for 35.

Chasing quick runs at the end of the innings, Mthiwekhaya Nabe was trapped in front by Sean Whitehead for 15. Subrayen got his seventh wicket when Wesley Bedja was out LBW for a duck.

Subrayen finished with figures of 7/61 as the Dolphins bowled Western Province out for 225, needing 242 runs to win.

The Dolphins made a steady start to their chase before they lost Tshepang Dithole for 16, caught behind off the bowling of Beuran Hendricks with the score on 27.

It was a solid period for the Dolphins who went to tea on 52 for one with Erwee doing the bulk of the scoring on 32 not out and Slade van Staden unbeaten on three.

A patient Erwee was the second wicket to fall when he was caught on the reverse sweep for 42.

Slade van Staden was the third wicket to fall when he was bowled by Simmonds for 12. The Dolphins were 83 for three at the loss of that wicket needing 159 runs to win.

The Dolphins lost their fourth wicket when Sean Whitehead was trapped in front by Simmonds for a duck leaving the Dolphins 87 for four.

With the Dolphins 88 for four, the players left the field for bad light. Jason Smith was 16 not out and Romashan Pillay was yet to score.

Going into the final day the Dolphins will need 154 runs to win with six second innings wickets in hand.
