The Dolphins started the day in the perfect way when they picked up their first wicket with the total on 13 when Jiveshan Pillay was run-out by Tristan Luus for six.

With the score still on 13 the Warriors lost their second wicket. Matthew de Villiers was trapped in front by Daryn Dupavillon for a duck.

The Dolphins continued to hammer home the early advantage when they picked up their third wicket in the seventeenth over. JP King also fell LBW, this time to Tristan Luus for seven.

The Warriors fell further into a hole when they lost their fourth wicket with the score on 40. Eathan Bosch bagged his first wicket when he bowled Sinethemba Qeshile for three and the home side were 40 for four.

Opener Jordan Hermann held the fort for the hosts and brought up his half century before he was the fifth wicket to fall.

Hermann was bowled by Bosch for 52 with the score on 80. The Dolphins were well on top on day one when they picked up that fifth wicket.

The Warriors showed their tenacity when Senuran Muthusamy and Andile Mogakane combined for a crucial partnership of 74 for the sixth wicket.

Mogokane would fall for 36 from 61 balls when he was caught by Daryn Dupavillon off the bowling of Tristan Luus.

Muthusamy continued to hold the innings together and along with CJ King they added 67 for the seventh wicket. King became Prenelan Subrayen’s first wicket when he had him caught behind by Tsehepang Dithole for 24.

Subrayen then picked up his second soon after that. Jason Raubenheimer was caught by Romashan Pillay for five and the Warriors were 227 for eight heading towards the close of play on day one.

Okuhle Cele then picked up his first wicket when Siya PLaatjie was bowled for five with the Warriors 237 for nine.

Ultimately the home side would finish the day on 244 for nine with Muthusamy 93 not out and Renaldo Meyer unbeaten on zero.
