New Zealand were much improved in the third match of the series but fell just short of keeping the series alive when they went down in a super over defeat.
For India Rohit Sharma came good at the crucial moment to ensure the tourists clinched the five match series in a thriller in Hamilton.

To Win

Draw
India
New Zealand
Skipper Kane Williamson was brilliant but after a 2019 of almosts the Black Caps will be frustrated at falling short yet again in a match they should have won. The agony of another super over loss will come as a blow to a team that have been competitive but a little off the pace set by India.
New Zealand have allowed India to get away to flying starts and look to be missing the pace of Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry with the new ball.
The opening pair of Martin Guptill and Colin Munro have flattered to deceive, showing glimpses of what they can do but failing to give the hosts impetus up front.
India
India have the series in the bag which frees them up to experiment in the final two matches of the long T20I series.
It is unclear if skipper Virat Kohli will rest or take another opportunity to get more time out in the middle, should he sit out then Sharma is likely to lead.
Ravindra Jadeja hasn’t always been guaranteed a place in India’s short format sides but he has demonstrated his value in this series, putting the brakes on when the Black Caps threatened and displaying great sharpness in the field.
Jadeja has done well but Washington Sundar could be afforded another opportunity to press his case for T20 World Cup inclusion in Wellington.
Verdict: India
India should stay on course for the whitewash.
