The announcement was made on Monday, 17 March 2025, marking a significant milestone in both players’ careers.

Led by Laura Wolvaardt as captain and Mandla Mashimbyi as head coach, the Proteas Women’s squad is gearing up for a crucial year.

Their ultimate focus is the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India, where they aim to take the world by storm.

This squad, blending seasoned experience with fresh, youthful talent, is primed for the challenges ahead.

In addition to the squad announcement, there is exciting news regarding a new addition to the roster. Annerie Dercksen, the talented all-rounder from the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers and recently named ICC Emerging Women’s Cricketer of the Year, has earned her first national contract.

At just 23 years old, this marks a major career milestone for Dercksen, who replaces the World Sports Betting Western Province duo of Lara Goodall and Delmi Tucker.
