Sri Lanka

Danushka Gunathilaka hasn’t been at his fluent best in the series to date and needs to put in a performance to stave off competition from younger batters.

Kusal Mendis has been consistently the best batter in the Sri Lanka middle order but even he has suffered from inconsistency.

Chamika Karunaratne’s medium pace proved tough to get away in Kandy and his allround talents make him a player to watch in this series.

Skipper Dasun Shanaka heads a strong group of allrounders who make Sri Lanka a dangerous outfit to take on in white-ball cricket.

Australia

Australia rely more heavily on specialists although Glenn Maxwell has been asked to put in more than his usual share of overs and Marnus Labuschagne has even turned his arm over.

The tourists seem to live and die on the fortunes of David Warner and Aaron Finch although Maxwell is lethal on the subcontinent and enjoys batting in Sri Lanka.

Matthew Kuhnemann impressed on his debut with the left-arm wrist-spinner bagging a pair of scalps as he made his first ODI appearance.

Pat Cummins can break the game open seemingly at will and is a huge weapon for Australia in the ODI format.

Verdict: Australia 42/100

Australia are likely to respond to their collapse last time out.
