Australia vs West Indies | Second T20I | Friday 7 October 2022 | The Gabba, Brisbane | 10:10

Australia

Neither Glenn Maxwell not Tim David could do the finisher job last time out but Australia’s banker Matthew Wade got them home.

Wade appears almost impossible to remove in clutch situations and he appears to haul Australia over the line by sheer force of will.

Australia’s bowlers have shown that they can bounce back from punishment and keep striking.

Aaron Finch looked solid in the middle order with David Warner and Cameron Green paired as the openers.

West Indies

The West Indies could hit the long ball on the odd instance but struggled to build any momentum batting first.

An Odean Smith cameo got the West Indies close to a respectable score and it almost proved enough for a victory.

Yannic Cariah was sensational on T20I debut and will be a player to watch in the format.

Sheldon Cottrell was a little loose and needs to do more to justify his place in the team.

Verdict: Australia

Australia should close this series out.
