Pakistan

Pakistan lost their way after a great start in the powerplay which underlined their reliance on the main men.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are players who Pakistan need to fire in order for them to consistently compete.

The Pakistan spinners didn’t have the control and composure of the visitors in crucial moments.

Pakistan also missed the new ball exploits and Shahnawaz Dahani and Naseem Shah were exposed.

England

There were plenty of heroes for the tourists but returning players and rookies made all the headlines.

Hales played the crucial innings in the chase while Luke Wood was the pick of the bowlers after snatching his first scalps in the format.

Adil Rashid got the crucial breakthrough for England when Babar and Rizwan were going great guns and that just shows how important the spinner is to England.

Hales showed great composure after initially battling and managed to find form while out in the middle.

Verdict: England 72/100

England now hold the edge in the series after their comfortable win first up.
