Dolphins & Knights evenly poised after day two

Daryn Dupavillon bowling for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in the CSA 4-Day Franchise Series 2019/20

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins were patient with the ball on day two of their CSA 4-Day Domestic Series clash with the VKB Knights in Bloemfontein as they head into the penultimate day with a 179 run advantage.

The Dolphins began the morning on 333 for seven and were disappointed to lose their captain Khaya Zondo for his overnight score of 63.

Daryn Dupavillon scored a brisk thirteen and Smagaliso Nhlebela added eighteen to the score before he was the last man out with the Dolphins total on 370.

The Dolphins would have been happy to see the back of Keegan Petersen early. The right-hander came in after opener Raynard van Tonder retired hurt and Dupavillon had him caught by Marques Ackerman.

Grant Mokoena and skipper Pite van Biljoen then put together a partnership of 67 before Mokoena became Dupavillon’s second victim for 47.

The Dolphins had to then wait another 61 runs before they broke through again. This time Prenelan Subrayen had Patrick Kruger caught by Vaughn van Jaarsveld for 24.

Van Tonder then returned to the crease with his captain Van Biljoen who had gone past 50 by that time.

The pair batted out the rest of the day to end on 191 for three, trailing the Dolphins’ first innings score by 179 runs.
