The Dolphins managed to win the toss and took first strike at the Bull Ring, however they never managed to get a significant partnership together throughout the innings that ended on 235.

Unfortunately for the Dolphins there were a number of starts throughout the order but no one was able to push on to register that magic hundred that would have helped them into a strong position on day one.

Captain for the match Marques Ackerman registered yet another half century when he top scored with 61 off 122 deliveries.

Opener Jason Oakes got past 30 before he was caught for 38.

Senuran Muthusamy made 23 in his first knock of the season, Andile Phehlukwayo contributed 30 while Rob Frylinck made 23.

Keith Dudgeon in his first match of the season scored 25 before the Dolphins were bowled out.

In reply the Lions openers scored quickly and took their side to fifty without loss at the close of play.

Tuesday’s second day will be crucial for the Dolphins as they try to get themselves in front in this match.
