Sri Lanka will likely be disappointed at their failure to compete against the cricketing superpower at home, especially after giving themselves every chance in the second ODI.

To Win Match

Sri Lanka 32/10
Tie 25/1
India 23/100

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka have so far failed to put enough runs on the board to trouble an India team without many multi-format stars.

Chamika Karunaratne yet again played an impressive cameo in the second ODI but Sri Lanka’s top order were probably 20-30 runs light.

Sri Lanka’s bowlers also got the team into a good position at one point in India’s second chase of the series but failed to finish the job.

Dasun Shanaka’s own reluctance to bowl seemed to cost Sri Lanka last time out as he persisted with Lakshan Sandakan even as he was taken to the cleaners.

India

While India left a lot of work for their lower order in the second match of the series they will be delighted with the depth of their batting.

Deepak Chahar played the knock of his international career and is emerging as a new all-round threat for India. Chahar could even press for a place in the Test team with his improved batting making him an even stronger candidate.

In the batting stakes, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have impressed with their ability to make the step up to ODI cricket.

The series has also given vital game time to the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar as he seeks to regain full form and fitness.

Verdict: India 23/100

India should whitewash Sri Lanka.
