South Africa hold the edge after a massive victory in the first match, while the West Indies will need to find a way to improve with the bat in hand.

To Win Match

West Indies 11/4
Draw 4/1
South Africa 13/20

West Indies

It would be difficult to frame their first Test loss as anything other than a setback but progress could be made by the hosts.

The team they face are not all brimming with confidence, and the West Indies could find a way to put the Proteas under pressure. They will need to put more runs on the board to stay in the game. Their top-order looked fragile, albeit against top-drawer fast bowling, and this will test the mettle of their younger batsmen.

Jayden Seales put in a debut effort that gave the West Indies something positive to take out of the innings defeat. The quick shows the fast bowling traditions of the Caribbean are alive and well.

Nkrumah Bonner is in doubt for the Test after he was replaced during the first match, having sustained a concussion; Kieran Powell, who replaced him in the previous match, is likely to step in, allowing Shai Hope to return to the middle order.

South Africa

The West Indies might have collapsed in both digs in the first Test, but the Proteas should be pleased to have improved their ability to cash in on chances to take a wicket.

If Temba Bavuma is not passed fit, it would be surprising if the Proteas didn’t name an unchanged team.

Debutants Kyle Verreynne and Keegan Petersen deserve another crack at the ultimate format, having just one innings to show what they can do.

The Proteas frontline pace trio of Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada have few equals when in full cry, and they should all be a factor in the second Test.

Verdict: South Africa 13/20

The Proteas should complete the sweep.
